That's funny, cool supra just flipped through some of the pages really quick, is it swapped or building the 7m? Always liked the mk3.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll try and get around to doing that soon! I do tend to write alot lol :D

I actually still have them but I have been wondering if I should just get aftermarket wheels, maybe steel ones with the right offset. I have a gx470 with 285/70/17's on the tundra split spoke wheels with the 15mm offset and when I test fitted them the tire was rubbing the upper control arm.
I don't really like running spacers, so for now I have another set of split spokes I am running with the BFG mud terrains in 255/75/17 but I would like to go to a 33+ later.

I am trying not to get too much more distracted with tires, sliders, and bumpers right now so I can get this swap done.

haha, I thought it was going to be famous the 2 Jay Z and Nas picture. Gotta love the SC's, I'm still active on there. . This will be my turn to play with a vvti version of the tt ecu mod so I am excited about that... It'll just be in a Taco

I dunno, with vvti on a small turbo with 5spd gearing, I think it's actually going to move pretty good off the line. heck with a manual I could launch my old 85 pickup with a carbd 22r pretty well.

If I really get the itch for more, I will set it up for anti-lag and with the AWD I bet I could launch that thing pretty good. I'll probably start breaking axles and stuff but it'll be worth it.

Ive never messed with vvti. Never heard anything good from it. I had a 95 supra 2jzgte non vvti.. i used a bws366 but it was laggy as hell. Tried a pte6266 and it spooled slightly quicker but still too slow. Turbo would have to be really small.

vvti makes a huge difference especially for spooling the turbo, all the supra guys are moving to vvti heads now.
I didn't get it till I drove one but now I wouldn't build anything that isn't vvti. even tuning is much easier these days on standalones.
S366 is a large turbo, thats for like 700hp and wont spool till 4k almost. I am going to be going with something much smaller like a S360 or S362 and shoot for a fast spooling 500-550hp. That should have it spooling up decent by 3-3500k rpm's I am hoping.

It'll eventually get swapped way down the road. Just trying to save up some money for other things then it'll hopefully be next to get worked on. But I need to read up on a bunch of things before that happens. So for now 7M just gets maintained and no upgrades

Gotcha, the 7m is a good motor too so you should be good. I had though about swapping one into the 85 pickup I had and even have the 5m mounts for that still but I ended up selling that truck unfortunately.

Good catch, yeah I swapped that last year and was doing some maintenance on it. It's stage 2, but I am going single turbo on it next year if I get some more time lol. 6spd, Quattro, bunch of s4 stuff etc.. it's a fun little car.

Slowly making progress... cylinder head is on and torqued down, now just gotta wrap up all the small stuff
Hopefully the weather will get a little warmer soon so I can paint the cam gears and valve covers etc..
It all looks a little dirty right now but it will be cleaned and painted hopefully soon :D

Well the project is at a stop right now.

After I got everything back together, I did a compression and leakdown test and the numbers were a little odd to say the least.
Either the short block has ring issues or it needs to run a bunch to become normal, but I think its bad enough to be the rings.

So I am currently deciding whether to tear it back down and hone and re-ring it, which should make it good to go...
OR I am also debating getting a running 1uzfe and putting that in there, with plans to turbo it down the road.

What do you guys think, rebuild the 2jz and go with the original plan, or 4.0l toyota v8 swap it and add boost later???

I would say rebuild th 2jz since its not in the truck yet. Its gotta be cheaper to do that then get a 4.0L V8, right? I don't know how much honing the cylinders and new rings cost.

If you did do the V8, what would you do with the 2jz?

It probably is cheaper since its already on the stand, I think my next step is to take the head back off and pull the pistons.
Until I do that there is a lot of guessing involved. Really I should have done that in the first place.

What I don't want is to spend all that time doing the conversion, and it not run properly.
For all I know it would seal up once running for a while, but I don't want to take that gamble.
I am going to start tearing it down anyways and plan to re-ring it. I will post up as I make some more progress.

You gotta fix the 2JZ anyways right, might as well stick with your plan- if anything for us lol

:rofl: Yeah I ignored it for a while but I feel like I am ready to tear it down and rebuild it now.

Tonight I am going to do one more round of compression and leakdown test and record them, so I will know exactly what areas need attention.
They were so off last time I did not bother writing them down :bananadead:
