"Hey honey I have a great solution, I just need to weld and cut some wood as per some stranger on a message board, I promise our new born will be safe"

Zero f'n chance my wife, or most sane wives for that matter, would allow a baby to be to strapped to some MacGyver'd DIY type shit.

Right. So you're incompetent. Got it. Please refrain from imposing your own weaknesses and limitations on to anyone else.

Exactly, if the car couldn't fit kids it wouldn't be designed with the car seat anchor lol

Rear facing and front facing car seats WILL work. Now like said before, I had a rear facing car seat behind the front passenger seat, with that the passenger seat had to be folded down and bushed all the way towards the dash.

I dont have both of my kids in my truck daily, but if I had to then honestly I would have spent the extra money on a double cab. With the front facing car seat, the family can all travel together if needed no problem.

The money I saved buying an access cab I put toward my wife’s 4Runner. Just makes sense to my situation.

i would love to see your insurance company's response to your rigged up solution after you have been in a wreck and your child is injured.
then again, just call them incompetent if they give you any trouble.

ill add too that i have had a baby seat right behind me while driving, facing backwards.
so it can be done, not ideal, but definitely possible with some car seats

Guess what? Its legal, and stronger than factory latch mounts by at least a factor of 10. There is not a word that they could say legally or ethically.

where in that section does it say you can fab up your own set using wood and fabbed up anchors?
it doesnt. your wrong. get over youself.

the thing is, i just called and inquired and it was an ABSOLUTE no go. if the seat (rear facing) doesnt work on its own using those uas anchors, the you are out of luck unless you can use the seatbelt. you cannot just go and attempt to modify a solution.

but the best of luck to your children, do what you want. unless you can prove to me without a "yea you can" response. which i doubt.

Your statements sound very religious. Pity that you can't open your mind. Have a nice day.

    Just for posterity,
“Option 1: universal anchorage system (UAS)
Vehicles made after 2002 are equipped with a UAS and therefore have lower anchor bars.”
quoted from the link above AND it does NOT describe fabricating your own restraint base or modifying a vehicle’ restraint system for an infant seat.

@96carboard can you post actual laws or regulations specifically allowing the modifications as you described?
