    Thanks, Dan!

I’m looking forward to how much better they are over the stock units. Even with relatively low mileage, mine were still splitting, which was probably more due to age and living in a dry climate. Should be a big improvement, I hope.

It’s a great method, for sure. Certain extreme cases might still require burning out the bushings or cutting them out, but for most people, this seems like it would be a great option.

I’ll just add that in those certain cases where the bushings are really stuck in there, it’s probably a good idea to put a ratchet strap around the arms to keep them from spreading when you have to really crank on the jack.

    Very good point.

Honestly, if they fight you to the point where this method doesn’t work, it’s probably best to cut them out or burn them out, rather than stress or permanently deform the arms.

Thank you gentlemen. This here is one of the things I enjoy about TW, vs. society in general (as Monte mentioned) these days. Perhaps one day in the future, we'll return to this mindset - something I feel like existed up until a couple decades ago with the rise of today's 24hr news cycles and big social media platforms.

Well it was a few years ago so I may have forgotten all the details of his incident. But he didn't tell the insurance (from what I remember) that he had any damage but he still got a check from the other persons insurance. My friend isn't the type who would blatantly tell the insurance that he needed a new paint job on the bumper.

My gf rear ended someone. Pretty much no damage to the cars. And three years later they tried to sue her for 40k for a bunch of bs, they both had “doctors” notes from the same “doctor” with the exact same issues. People are shady! The courts saw right through it and didn’t give them shit.

Probably also shouldn't have worded my post to sound like insurance fraud, but more of if something is actually wrong with the car like a bent bumper or broken tail-light, he should take appropriate action

Tire sits on the horizontal arms sticking out and wheel is bolted to the plate with the lugs sticking out of it that is bolted to the center vertical tube with those u-bolt (but square) thingys. Aluminess said this is their 2nd version. 1st was found to have a few shortcomings and, for a while (I don't see them on their site anymore) they were offering add-on parts to shore up those issues. Now the fixes are rolled into this new version. They say it is engineered to "hold an over-sized spare and extra gear...or you are an avid off-roader..." My 285/75-16 leaves all of 1/2" between tread and jerry can box so 33's are probably the biggest it can handle. Thick delrin bushings and grade 8 ss hardware will supposedly be robust enough and bushings are easily replaceable. Not gonna lie, I'll probably dial back on the Ivan "Ironman" Stewart-style desert slamming around until I see how it holds together but Aluminess IS a quality name brand so I am hoping and expecting it to be fine for my needs.

On the lip for the rear sliding window. It’s a lot smaller and lower resolution than the front camera.

He let the lady go, I don’t know if he got insurance info or not, but he shouldn’t need it. She was only going 15 mph, and as far as he could tell last night there was no damage to his truck.

I don’t know if he’s gave it another look in the daylight

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
Carefull, most states have a "minimum hight" for your bumper. If they have a good lawyer, he could make you pay some of the damages if your rear bumber is not IAW state law. Some states I think you can even be held %100 liable but not sure.
