Is the manual transmission that much better than the auto transmission?

Based on this sub, it should have driven like an s2000 with the power train of a Ford Raptor and the tranny of an R154.

I know it’s a truck lol, but with the amount of positivity surrounding the manual, I thought it was going to be something special, I built it up in my head apparently

Its obviously not for you, its always good to test drive the truck to find out if you like it.

You think this is a dumpster fire? This?
Pfft....this ain’t shit. This is just another thread. It didn’t even get heated.
Hang around the 3rd gen forum for a while. We’ll show you a goddamn dumpster fire.

    Really though.
I can’t speak for others, but I didn’t buy a manual because I thought it was “that much better” than an auto. I bought a manual because I enjoy driving a manual.
It’s good that you test drove one. Now you know and you wont buy something you’re unhappy with.

My first three Toyota pick-ups were manual trans . About 10 years ago I decided I was done with shifting gears and my last three Toyota trucks have been AT. I don't mind the 3rd Gen AT.

For a daily driver, I'd never consider a MT again. I wouldn't mind having a dedicated off-road play truck with MT.

Really? That indeed is a much more gutless ride. Not that we took you seriously to begin with but this just seals the deal you opinion can't be trusted.

Your "oil consuming" hair raising Crosstrek

I'm not done, there is more in my bag...
    - can a gender neutral operate a MT?
    - best transmission for a snow flake?
    - what #METOO would chose?
    - would a "trany" drive electric?

First, this is turning into a dumpster fire now that politics are getting involved.

Secondly, looks like a truck, feels like a truck, it is a truck - I'm guessing it drives like one. I too have driven many many types of MT from Porsche to fire trucks. This is a smooth MT

Manual is better for towing but then again that depends on wut ur towing.
Tow heavy often manual, tow light not so much auto.
Shifting sucks unless u need to and unless I'm towing heavy often auto is the ticket.
The towing capabilities/ratings on these trucks really don't require a manual. What are the torque specs l don't recall off the top of my head but l don't think there that far apart.
If u wanna hold the gear longer just shift the auto manually pretty simple.

Speaking of CT's: I test-drove a Crosstrek with a MT before buying the Tacoma (we like Subaru's) I couldn't get over how little power it had. Anyone thinking your 3rd gen is down on power go drive a Crosstrek.

We did that before getting the Forester XT in 2014. The non-turbo 2.5 CVTs were hilariously sluggish beyond 0 to 5mph. My wife has an irrational hate of the Legacys, current gen and the killer 2.5 GT from the 2000s. ??

I was hoping that she'd bond with the Crosstrek and not the Forester. The opposite happened.

    But, fuck CVTs! :D

I will say that OVT's gear holding video looks very interesting for the AT folks.
