Given the breadth and depth of the upcoming 1.05 tune, I don't think we'll have to wait very long to see dyno results from one motivated individual, or another.

I’d assume that if you don’t want to flash back to the stock files for service at the dealership that you could flash back to 1.04r as an option so it won’t be detected AND keep some sanity with the driving habits?

You can’t go backwards is the understanding. You will have to use the file labeled “stock” that comes with the 1.05 release.

I asked Mat - "After installing 1.05, can I tune back to the
older tunes like 1.03 or 1.04 or will it be 1.05 or stock only?"

Mat said - Yes, you can.

104r is based on 4B04 which is the newest file from Toyota so it’s not going backwards.

I guess I don't see why the tune is undetectable. Flash manager is able to download the current tune from the ecu isn't it (the entire backup before you flash process)? Unless the tune is signed to the ecu it's trivial to an end user to compare it against an existing factory tune as not having originated from the factory. If the tune does end up causing serious problems that starts to costs Toyota warranty dollars, you can bet Toyota will consider it SOP that dealers check before reimbursing powertrain warranty work. Dealers probably couldn't care less as long as they're getting paid for their work or your being a dick.

The reality of the matter is that Toyota's secret shopper has run 1.04 and has deemed it nothing to worry about within a standard warranty period. They also know that having a vibrant after market is important; enough so that they didnt change many hardpoints on the frame so lots of 2nd gen stuff bolts right up. Many of us would have traded in hadn't it been for OVTune.

Truth. My truck would have been out of my hands by fall of '17 had a tune not surfaced. Period. 1.01b, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04 got me by quite happily until the TSB. Right NOW i'm happy w/ the TSB until 1.05 drops, but really looking forward to trying out all the extensive changes to come.

I have the 100k warranty. I don’t sweat it and have been to the dealer many times and even had them flash the new TSB

OVTune website says they're closed Dec 19th - Jan 3rd so I'm assuming we won't be getting 1.05 until after?

So that means for us who are currently tuned (I'm on 1.04R) we will use the new Flash Manager to download 1.05 and I think #2 is for people who have just recently purchased and haven't tuned but are awaiting files after having sent their ECU IDs?

I apologize I normally only check the last few pages if that, I usually just pop in for a quick read to see what's happening. I am still very new to this as I just tuned 1.04R a few weeks ago so I have not been keeping up with this thread from page 1 nor do I have the desire/time to read through 1600+ pages and the thread count increases faster than I can catch up due to time constraints. If there was a more direct way on the OVTune website to convey this sort of info I wouldn't be asking here. I got the answer I was looking for though, thanks for the update guys, I appreciate it.

You do not have to keep up with this thread I plan to have everyone on the release blog post that will be right on our main site.

Anyways I am thinking we may release some ECU versions tomorrow and the rest this weekend
