Yep! It was a couple of years after I first started to get really into bow hunting when the first Rage broadhead came out. I had a couple of friends who had failures to expand and I tried them but never saw enough of a difference to justify the cost. My NAP Thunderheads are $5 a piece and work just fine.

I didn’t have any luck today, but my buddy about 160 yards across the field (who uses Rage Broadheads…) did. It got to see the whole thing - it was pretty cool. Deer came out of the woods and walked the tree line line right in front of where his stand was. I heard a thwack and saw the deer take off and then heard him crash.

I had a feeling at least one of us would get a deer. It was a beautiful evening to hunt. 40 degrees, grey and very still after 2.5 straight days of rain.

That's a nice deer! Sounds like a great day.
I used Thunderheads for years. Great broadheads.

Any new hunting stories? My last time out I saw two small bucks. No good story to go with it. They were both really small.

That sucks. We have 1 more month but the last couple of trips out I've swatted a few mosquitos. Not many, just enough to let you know they are still around.

Glad you filled your tags. If I could hunt anything in the US besides whitetails, it would be moose. I saw 1 in Montana once while visiting a friend. Huge!

we see quite a few moose. They usually get in the way when we are hunting deer or elk...

Season is out until Dec. 26, then flintlock and late archery come in. Hopefully we can get a story or two. I have one doe tag left and my son has two. Really really want to tag one with the flintlock.

    "Gimp"

He first showed up on my trial cameras in the summer and continued to make an appearance every card pull....but at night. All season long, I have only seen him on camera at night....never during daylight.
Fast forward to December 14, 2018, Gimp made a bad decision of being 120yd away from my muzzleloader in daylight. Perfect broadside shot was made and he expired in seconds.
I feel super greatful to have watched this buck on camera since summer and then to have harvest him almost a week ago! It's an unreal feeling when you have watched a buck for that long and then to harvest them afterwards....a stronger connection. I feel super greatful for this experience and has made me appreciate hunting even more!!
I took my time getting as much from Gimp as I could to feed my family. I'll take great care to make a good euro mount from Gimp so he'll forever be cherished in my home!

A kill, is a kill, especially cool when you have a history with the animal you’re pursuing and harvest him.
