Is the manual transmission that much better than the auto transmission?

Yep. Needs a little photoshopping, but I can certainly use it.

This thread not going the way you expected? You seem like the guy that accidentally cut off the lead rider in a pack of Hells Angels. Make a note to self OP. On TW, you make a thread with "manual" in the title and these guys will descend like the angels of death, rip off your head, and shit down your throat if you are not a disciple. Carry on.

I just hope Toyota fears us as much as you do. Because if they ever discontinue the manual, I will unleash the "Angel's of death" on their corporate office. Toyota..you've been warned...:quickdraw:

I just switched over from an '02 WRX M/T to a '19 Tacoma OR M/T and have zero regrets. After driving manual my whole life, I felt there was no need to switch to auto. IMO, if you're good at manual stick to it!

i test drove one when shopping for the Tacoma. actually i didn't fully test drive it .. i turned back around at the driveway and never left the car lot. it actually felt like a golf cart to me. i love Subies, or used to, but that thing was unbelievably flimsy. pathetically so for a new vehicle IMO. i wouldn't be averse to that except for the weak motor. too weak to deal with my reality and not very moddable.

honestly the Tacoma, although not flimsy, was pretty wonky and uncoordinated to drive when i got it. so i got to work and made it a very fun and tight drive. i kinda thought this thread was heading in that direction but apparently not. seems there's a breakdown between definitions of what's fun vs. what's performance. we don't have proper performance over here, so fun driving is the only focus. and it seems different camps define their fun differently.

I personally hated the manual in this truck. I felt like I had to bring my leg up pretty high and I'm 6ft so it was a no go for me . No heel toe shifting .I ended up with a automatic its not fast but hey its a truck and any one to say this truck moves faster in a manual is full of it . The 1st and 2nd gear feels like your pulling a trailer . If u want to feel like driving a sports car get a sports car .

Not to mention you can trade your auto into Carmax for a grand under what you paid.

I have 15k miles and I got an offer for $1,000 less than what I paid... test drove the WRX STI, Focus RS, and Type R at a local car max and could have done an even swap.

One thing about these Tacoma’s is having an auto gives you a huge leg up in the resale game if your trading in to a dealer

You drove an 02 WRX... I’m sure the the truck feels right on par with that transmission made of glass.

All Tacoma's have great resale, one of the benefits of owning one.

No way! Who are your inside sources that would give you such Top Secret information?

Who would of thought a reliable, dependable company like Toyota would have one the highest reselling vehicle in the U.S.

Which may be slightly different for those buying manual trucks. I gave little thought to resale because I was buying what I wanted and plan to keep it for a while.

You are good to go on any Tacoma Brother:
Had my 2000 8 years and it only depreciated $4000
Had my 2008 7 years and it only depreciated $5000
Had my 2015 for 1.5 Years and it only depreciated $1500
Expect the 2017 to do just as well as the others.
