The stock y-pipe is restrictive because of the cats and tubing diameter, not the crush bend as is commonly believed. The tubing is the same diameter at the crush portion, just ovaled. Here is a pic of mine that I cut because I was curious.
    15453500181255264889466519290899.jpg

The gains from my y-pipe are obtained through optimum tubing diameter, specific equal length, and REAL merge collector.

I’m thinking about swapping the 1142 for a 12249 to see if it makes it a little quieter.

The body is 18” long and it looks like it will fit if my cutting and welding is precise enough.

Speaking of the Jan 19 mod day at Roostfactor's house aka (JFR), who all is planning on attending? This is a meet and greet as well as whatever mods you want people to help with. Bring your own tools or use mine, just keep tools separated so no one loses anything.
I might be kicking the wife out that day/night and people are welcome to bring their sleeping bag, blanket, air mattress, etc. to enjoy some adult beverages and have a place to stay for the night. All I ask is for everyone to be respectful and clean up after yourself. (no puking!)

I will smoke some food for dinner Sat night, the rest is BYOB.

Also, whoever is wanting exhaust work done on mod day let me know so I can start a list. The list will be organized in order of when people respond to this message. @rjbiii has first priority if he can make it followed by @Biscuits. @elnip is third if available and after that is still open (unless I forgot somebody).

I plan on working Sunday as well although depending on Saturday I imagine it wont be an early morning start. :D Let me know ladies and gentlemen!

    Cheers,

    Roost

Awesome! Thanks for clarifying that. Sounds like I have a good idea what what I’d like to do. It may be a little bit for me but it looks like you have a pretty decent wait list going. Which I can see why...sic work

So @808inDa503, that's the same setup I'm planning. I've already installed old-gen TRD CAI and URD MAF calibrator for quite some time now and hope to put on URD headers and @Roostfactor's beautiful Y-pipe. Then just tie into stock muffler (for now) to save $$. Truck should be going in for a frame swap soon which I'm trying to coordinate everything, especially the headers since that sounds tricky unless the body is off .

And @loginfailed, I'm hoping to possibly dyno before and after if I can find a shop that isn't too expensive. :fingerscrossed: I'm really curious. BTW, I'm sticking 2.5" diameter as I never plan on supercharging. I like a good low end.

I wish I was in TX area, as the Jan shindig sounds like a blast. It may even be productive :drunk:

Does it lay flat on the trans side or is there reinforcements on that side? If it’s flat you should be good. Pick up a couple washers to space it where it mounts up with the ifs skid and mine fits with room to spare. F0D086FD-8B48-4FCD-9FA1-D48CAEBE28A5.jpg
This is how mine looks. I made spacers that you shouldnt need to make if your headers are not jacked up.

I definitely think the equal ypipe is the biggest gain for our stock exhaust systems. Boosted anyway

Looks like you're only 2 hrs from my sister's place in Moore, OK. Last time I made that drive was for her Air Force retirement ceremony.

@JuanitoBunito should we start a caravan from Chicago?
