    Glad it worked out. I just don't like issues when it comes to drilling big ass holes in my fender. :sawzall: :goingcrazy:

    Yeah it was very tough to line it up and mark all of the holes. If I could go back in time I would have done the cowl snorkel lol

    You might try threaded hole transfer punches. Small center punches that thread into tapped holes (in the snorkel in this case), so now you have sharp points at each threaded hole. Line up the snorkel where you want it and give it a good slap and all the holes will center punch in their exact locations. Far more accurate than the "paint the bolt" technique. Here's an example of them and a link to McMaster if you know the thread pitch.

    that would have helped for sure! its also hard to tell because of the part of the snorkel that fits through the hole. hard to line it up before the hole is drilled lol!

    I know that you already installed your snorkel, looks good BTW! That info might possible help someone in the future, specifically @Gunshot-6A who I meant to quote. :anonymous:


    I've been following this thread since it started and will pull the trigger someday. I might try my hand at making my own template but I'll have to have parts in hand to figure out what easier once I get there.

    I think the fancy cruiser outfitter template will make do though. Def gonna use that spectre tube as well to avoid all the hassle of air pump relocation, etc as well cuz 2015 problems

    I remember when I had a Jeep XJ the "cowl snorkel" mod was pretty popular. Used tubing to move take air from through the cowl below the windshield. Not as high as a real snorkel, but definitely adequate for most peoples' water crossings (doubt many people go deeper than hood level). not sure if doable on a taco or if rain or dust would be an issue though. Just thought I'd bring it up. All you gotta do to see it is google "Jeep XJ cowl snorkel" or similar and there should be numerous links

    How necessary is it to drill in to the pillar for the upper mount? Is there a good alternative? Only part I can't talk myself into.

    I used outdoor velcro to attach it, and it's held up for 2+ years now without issue

    EDIT: Here's what I used (or it was another brand but basically this)
