So looking forward to being able to maintain speeds on "hills" a 15 year old Corolla wouldn't notice.

Keep those initial impressions rolling in. I need something to do at work tomorrow.

 

So 1.05 is the ECU file correct?

Depends on whether it has a 2.0L i4 or a 3.5L V6

 

Nevermind, since it's a 250 it must have a 2.5L V6 which makes around 200HP

@OVTune just to confirm 1.05 is an ECU update only, no TCU?

 

Is there a big difference between 91 and 93 tune? In Canada I have access to Shell 91 here and Chevron 94 so I'm assuming the 94 would work on the 93 tune? Only thing is the 94 is a little bit out of the way for me because not every Chevron or Husky has 94 so I'm wondering if it's worth it to go 93 once I get my hands on 1.05 in a few days? Or I was thinking I'll just keep the tablet in the truck and just re-flash whenever I find 94 and just run on 91 as a daily driver, what do you guys think?

 

Each one is better then the last in performance and for your motor. However it is normally good to run a tank and re-tune on the second tank. That's always been the way I've ran it.

So I'd just run 91 imo

I looked back on a couple of his posts and I'm pretty sure it changes both however it just does the ECU then the TCU. The Toyota updates do both at the same time.

 

Run the 91 tune on 91 or 92 gas. That’s my daily (now) and it’s great/fine

 

Yeah that way you can run either 91 or 93, whichever you have access to. I bet even if the truck is not tuned for 93 it will still run better as the ECU can keep the timing advanced more often.

 

I don't have 92 or 93 here only 91 and 94. I think I'll try the 91 tune first and switch to 93 tune after with 94 octane gas to see if any difference. If not then I will just strictly run 91 because every gas station has that here and only a few have 94. It's probably worth checking out the 93 tune anyway at least for a few tanks .

 

I've just been adjusting for the turbo setup since I'm pretty sure 91 will be the minimum. So once Mat is 100% happy with the transmission results I know that's where we're going next!

 

Man I can’t wait for 1.05 took a drive up to the mountains and man is this stock tune some garbage. Gear hunts like nothing I’ve seen before and it feels like the truck is 10,000 pounds. 6 spd auto but it never holds 6th gear. Unfortunately i live in Sacramento and I don’t have access to 93 so I won’t be able to experience the tune at its max capability but I’m hoping 91 will be exactly what I need.

 

Off to work. All I want for Christmas is Ovtune 1.05 lol. Happy flashing everyone!

A few more observations from this morning’s commute (10 miles in town, 35-45 mph):
- tip-in is more aggressive than 1.04/1.04r but not as touchy as 1.03. It’s not the least bit jumpy and should not cause anyone to panic like 1.03 did.
- no surging when backing up or pulling in slowly to the garage.
- In-town shift points are perfect and power delivery is SO SMOOTH.

I haven’t had a single shift that made me say WTF was that. The EPROM from OVT is stellar.
