How the TRD Pro Should have come from Toyota

I understand exactly what you are saying and fully aware of franchises. I'm just stating facts of what local dealers are doing. Not here to agree or disagree.

 

It’s a good looking truck.

 

Did some measuring tonight for those that are curious. With the lift and tires it sits exactly 2.75" higher in the front and 2.75" higher in the rear vs stock.

 

I don't think it has to do with breaking it, but more to do with the ride quality.

 

What're the measurements from fender to center of hub?

Not entirely true. Being a "franchise, there are some specific requirements Toyota corporate imposes on their franchisees. They can't do "Whatever" they please. Now, whether or not adding lifts etc and then marking them up is one of the restricted items I don't know. Probably not but I would think Toyota would require the dealership to bear the responsibility of covering warranty on the modified parts.

 

The official MOPAR lift kit is not a spacer lift. It comes with new shocks, springs, and other associated hardware at the minimum.

 

Knowing Toyota's socio-technical system, it is most likely that nothing a dealership adds outside of OEM parts following OEM processes is covered by Toyota corporate. I am sure dealerships will say whatever they need to say to make a sale. If it is not in writing, I would not assume it is covered by any warranties.

 

I agree, if you expect anything to be true these days it has to be in writing. I had a truck on order, payment taken from my credit card and everything after a month of waiting I was told they are no longer taking orders for Manual transmission Pros. My money was refunded and I now don't have a truck. I had it "in writing" that they had ordered me a vehicle. It was on a signed order sheet... So yeah don't take the dealer's word on ANYTHING... get it in writing, but even then it is not always 100%...

 

They might simply say shocks are a wear item and not covered. Or say the truck was abused offroad, and that's why the shock broke. No warranty for abuse or non approved uses.

 

I had a Rubicon back in the day that the front dog bone broke. They tried telling me that it was from offloading and using the locker. They put a locker on and mud terrains and will not warrenty when it breaks I eventually won and they fixed it but they will try anything to get out of it. Just stay persistent and even try another dealer if need be.

 

Need to check out Hidden falls adventure park. Little bit of a drive but we'll worth it.

Nice truck OP! I get what you were getting at. I agree, for the money the Pro costs it should come a lil higher than a stock OR as well as more aggressive tires and wheels. I love the Pro trucks but the factory wheels are ugly in my opinion. they should at least come with the 17" Pro 4R wheels. one thing I would like to see also is factory rock slides, even if they were bolt on. this is a "premium" truck in the Tacoma line, it should come with features the others don't have besides shocks and leather seats and badges.

 

The Pro is 1" higher in the front.

 

1" is not enough of a difference to justify the cost though.

I don't do any off roading so bolt on bars/sliders don't bother me. so in the unlikely event that one gets dinged or damaged somehow they are much easier to replace than weld on bars. if I were going to get serious with off roading, weld on bars for sure.
