Part of what I'm saying is basically because of the duck curve. During the day when the sun is out we have power but that's now and during day light.
Most will charge thrir car at night.
But now if we force everyone to drive an EV car we will need power in large ampasity at hundreds of locations to support the need.
It takes alot of watts to quick charge.
If we all go home and plug in 2 cars the power companies will love you but your pocket will not. That duck curve will grow to an even worse state then it is now.
Rolling black outs will be back and worse then before.

Not arguing or making "you" statements. all points I agree with. Innovation in electricity distribution and storage is happening though. :laser:

Currently we only produce 9.9% of CAs power from solar. So solar dosnt really help a ton.

I just find it funny that you can't even bring up an electric car without it immediately turning to infrastructure, resources, and materials. Completely ignoring the car itself. It's not like anytime we talk about other cars it becomes a discussion about the infrastructure and things that supports it.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Wasn't making anything personal, just asking questions.

Many people think don't actually think about where electricity comes from, how it gets to them, or what is involved in storing it.

Just because fossil fuel is considered "older" technology, doesn't mean it's not actually better.

What most don't think about is that electric as well as the CNG craze that proceeded electric or ethanol for that matter, is all transitional tech. Will it be a fraction of the future transportation makeup, sure but not to the level of black out. No more that ethanol corn will starve the world.

But what about businesses? Most businesses are using peak usage during the day, shouldn't that counteract some of the car charge surge? Also if coming home at night most people are just slow charging overnight which isn't as bad as quick charge. Yes/No?

Today's bad driver in a sweet Cadillac Allante with custom bodywork. Can't get too mad at the old guy. I'll be him some day.

We better step up solar as we currently only produce 10% from solar. And build large battery storage areas. Lol
    That will work.
Keep in mind smud has told pot farmers in some areas they cant give the power they want.

Had a meeting yesterday with some hippies that want to make everyone bring there old homes to be energy efficient and zero net.
Today's youth have no clue the cost and how crazy that is.
The best clean power in nuclear, but that scares the shit out of them.
