Not sure if anyone asked, but have you noticed any difference in MPGs since switching tires?

I just switched from old and extremely hard BFG KO's (not KO2's) and my XLT's have felt like butter on the road in comparison...and I only have a 100 miles on them so far. What psi are you running for your E rated? I'm running 30psi cold all around, currently. Have not done chalk test yet.

i had two previous sets of STMaxx also 265/65-17 and did the chalk test with those. so i run 30psi front and 29 rear from that and these feel good like those tires did, although these are definitely a bit firmer than the STMaxx. those xlt's are cool and although i wish they came in my size, they basically do with the LT's, just a slightly less aggressive sidewall design. but those are seriously tight looking.

Actually tracking the mileage right now I'll get back to you. I got 270 miles til gas light on my 265/70/17 ko2s so I'm hoping to get near 290 with these. I'm lifted and have a Baja rack so not the best aerodynamics

No lift on mine, but I do have an A. R. E. topper with roof rack and 235/85/16 E BFG KO2’s I get anywhere from 14-17.5 MPGs

Spent a day last weekend exploring some forest roads up in northern Maine. Covered about 150 miles on both plowed and unplowed roads. Some of the plowed roads turned into unplowed snowmobile trails that I ventured down. Deepest snow I drove through was 12" in 4WD. Tires performed amazing in all conditions.

Did have my recovery tote, full size spare, shovel and a 60lb bag of sand in my bed, so I'm guessing that helped.

Some unplowed roads got pretty narrow and I was easily able to turn around slowly with multi-point turnarounds. No issues in the deep snow doing that either.

[IMG] I will be getting new tires on my 2009 Tacoma shortly after the first of the year, my tire of choice is The Cooper AT3 4s, the truck has seen its last snow, it is now living in SoCal. l Chose the Cooper AT3 4s solely on looks, (I am an older guy, & want to toughen up my Tacoma, which is a 2009 4x4 Access cab) I am in the desert here in SoCal, maybe an occasional trip on a desert road, Big Bear a remote/REMOTE possibility, Question? am I making the correct decision?? Thanks

Sounds like you are ready, my only suggestion would be to up grade your 60lb bag of sand, spending a lifetime in snow & ice country I would recommend a 60lb bag in front & back of each wheel well, hell it is only 240 lbs about the size of "Uncle Buck" it will make a difference, jmop

30+ years of winter driving here in Maine. For daily driving, I've never used/needed any extra weight. However, for these adventures, it definitely helps. With all that gear, the bag of sand was for both weight and traction if needed.

Ya, whatever works, I get up to Northern Maine (Madawaska) every now and then snowmobiling, we mostly get a lot of snow but not the cold, In MN we get the cold which hard packs the snow making it slick, extra weight is a must.

I haven’t wheeled with mine, but if you are going to be the desert, I’d say go with the LT at least.

Am I mistaken or are all of the LT on this tire e load?

I got the 265/70/17. They don't say anything about P rated or LT on the tire. M+S and the snowflake rating are included

they are available in that size, both C & E.

    look under specs..
    http://us.coopertire.com/tires/discoverer-at3-lt.aspx

i have them in E and love them in 265/65-17. 265/70 will be pretty soft but i guess you know that... and that E's will be quite hard.
