Subtle Changes for 2019 Tacoma

The only subtle change I’m aware of is Toyota is selling more Tacomas than last year. Actually more than any other year since 1995

 

They deleted one of the bed storage pockets.

 

I'd like more info about the noise isolation, and if those features can be retro-fitted to earlier 3rd gens...

 

From reading that article it sounds like they applied the TSB for the howling rear as it consists of sound deadening, and rear springs.

 

Headroom in the Tacoma is compromised for anyone taller than 5 feet, 10 inches, as the seat just isn't low enough to allow taller drivers enough headroom with the moonroof present.

I must be a short 6' tall then. I mean, I can't rock my flat top but my head definitely isn't scraping the headliner.

They mentioned the new Engine tune.

I have the new tune on my 2017 and it’s much better than the 2016 -2018 tune.

Of course certain members on this site will claim the original tune was Toyota’s best effort in automotive history.

 

Here are my experiences coming from a 2016 to a 2019 a couple of weeks ago...

No diff howl yet like I had in the 2016 before the TSB fix was applied. (only about 400 miles on it so far though)

It also shifts more like my 2016 after the TSB 0062-18 was applied, but the transmission is likely still in learning mode. It does have a different calibration ID than either the 2016-17 and 2018. (see image below)

Also came with a homelink mirror in the OR with premium and tech package, though not listed on the sticker.

 

I find it interesting that your ID is O4B31, while my automatic 2019 OR DCLB is O4B30. What type of transmission do you have?

 

6-speed auto. November build date.

 

Interesting. Is it normal for them to install different ECU software in every truck based on the varying trim packages every year? (I'm obviously new to Toyota).

Also interesting: I think OVtune built thee 2019 version of his new 1.05 tune using my 04B30 base files.

 

Here's the history of the calibration IDs from 2016-2018 model year trucks. Not sure when the production cut-in would have been for each or if they were retrofit by TSB only.

 

Now I'm left wondering what the differences are between my 04B30 and your 04B31. Strange that there are already different versions with the new model year trucks.
