Changed my LEDs back to my stock halogens and figured I’d have no issue at the dealership for a state inspection. Took a shuttle back home and the moment I got home they had an issue, the tech can’t see my 3rd brake light....the advisor called me if I could come back and fold down the softopper. :annoyed: Pretty much a wasted day when I needed to run errands.

More of a warning to those who have a softopper so you know to fold it down before coming in if your planning on leaving.

The advisor agreed it’s stupid and some of the other techs did as well as I was just gonna flip it right back up. Can’t really be to mad as it’s their job...

Some may ask why didn’t the techs just do it themselves....afaik dealerships in my area will not touch any aftermarket stuff unless they installed it themselves. Also I had 1 prior incident with my truck here last year so they probably don’t wanna touch it.

Dude, get out of that state. Even CA doesn't have that $hit.

VA State Inspection is one of the most ridiculous ones around.

No BS inspection in Oregon, time to move out west.

Moving from VA to CA would be like shooting yourself in your left foot because your right foot hurt... Move somewhere you have some semblance of FREEDOM and less Gov. overreach...

No inspection in OR or WA, but if you get the wrong cop, having your brake light covered is ticket-able.

It's coming... Oregon is slowly becoming the next CA... Just waiting for WA to fully convert then they creep south...

Pretty much....reason why I also don’t have aftermarket lights for my front bumper, fog lights etc.

15454388705483768167155871935673.jpg First thing I did to my softopper was find a self-adhesive LED light bar and stick it to the canvas just under the buckles.

I don't care about getting dinged on the inspection, I just don't want to be rear ended.

In NY no high mount brake light or blocked by a bed cap you fail inspection. Any lights you add to the truck become part of NYS Inspection. Fog lights do not count if they are not wired to turn on with headlights. We perform emissions inspection every year. Tougher than California I would guess?
Yes I agree, a beautiful Taco for sure !!

I haven’t had a problem getting my truck to pass inspection, even with my ditch lights uncovered. But then again, I go to a small, family-run shop I’m my little town. You can practically call NOVA and the rest of VA 2 different states cause they’re really different as far as I’ve experienced.

but you can't pump your own gas... I grew up in Tigard, but don't miss some of the stupidness that Oregon forces on folks.
