So maybe its me, and I could be wrong. However I would like some help confirming something. To those of us who's dealer will not update the truck with the automatic tsb to fix the stumble and are not brave enough to try it ourselves and make our pcm a brick. I pressed my traction control button one time the other day and accelerated on the harder side and I swore the stumble in second gear was gone. I tried it again at a different location and it seemed to be gone again. I had a coworker that has the same truck as me try it and he believes it worked as well. Can someone else verify this or tell me that I'm imagining things.

Yes. There was a post or a thread a while back about this (long press while stopped) before the TSBs came out. I found the same, doing the long press at startup. It was a PITA to remember every time, but it was just a bit smoother when getting moving and accelerating.

While it made the motor smoother, it did not help needing to be ultra-attentive to every shift. 6k down the road from the TSB, I'm still able to chill and phone in shifts like other MTs.

I presume that would generally refer to an ECU controlled AT. Is that correct? And here I thought I was calibrating the transmission in my truck.

Exactly. I'm guessing there is some latent AT coding in the ECU? Carista said that is their guess also.

Could it be simple feedback to the ECU regarding what gear the truck is in at the moment?

If so, you may have just discovered a way for us to have a backlit shift knob with lighted gear indicator!

    I fucking hope not!

We don't need ANY of that bi-polar slushbox shite in our ECM. The code is fucked up enough as it is.

Hahaha! The OBD Fusion folks might be able to find the PID for that?

I know that the reverse lights use a physical switch. Usually, gear indicators in MTs compare wheel speed to engine RPM. There are a bunch of those for motorcycles that could probably be adapted if you were really serious about it.

I can say this, the OBD port location is less than ideal for something plugged in there. My old adapter pokes my shin. The newer compact ones might be better, but I'd still bet that you can feel them there a bit too easily?

Mine does the same thing, drives me nuts sometimes. I need to find a low-profile adapter and tie the rest up under the paneling

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Agreed. I'm spitballing, but it is probably only accessed when using a function like that since there are no sensors going between the ECU and transmission.

It would be interesting to get some info on that from someone that knows more than me?

Exactly. But in comparison, I'm about 2ft underground. I think I have a decent butt dyno though? o_O

    Don't underestimate the butt dyno.

Plenty of guys use it to justify CAI/TRD Catback purchase :D

Looks like I'll have to keep my Gen 2 Access cab until the wheels fall off. Of all the options out there, I don't see a manual available in most anything but a four door pickup. I carry more "stuff" than people, so the access cab is the right choice for me. Sure I can get a manual in the Sport trim access cab but I prefer the Off-road. I sure don't like that Toyota doesn't provide a manual access cab off-road in the States. It's all about marketing, I know. I could be in the market for a new pickup, but I'm going to stay with "what I got" until Toyota changes their offerings. I'd go to the new Ranger but they don't offer a manual. GM and Nissan aren't even options. What's a guy to do?????

You’re just going to have to make friends with a Canadian and import one from our Northern brethren.
