I built my retrofits and installed last weekend, there was a few issues learning what wires were what and there was a lot of trial and error, blown fuses, and cussing. However they are installed and properly wired. In the process somehow I managed to create an issue with my high-beams and there is no blue indicator on the dash when toggled or any voltage reaching the H4 plug under the hood. (tested the signal wire for high-beams)

High-beam worked fine before final install!

I'm certain it's not the lights themselves, it has to be something truck-side...

Here is what I have checked:
    • Low-beams work flawlessly, 0 issues on start or switching on/off
    • Right & left 10A fuses under the hood, both good.
    • Headlight Relay under the hood, 12v toggles it fine, and it has conductivity while toggled...
    • Steering column switch works fine and has conductivity while toggled...
I have checked everything with a proper continuity meter and have verified there is no 12v power going to either light on the High-beam power wire... I must have fried something while mixing and matching wires for 4 hours... What could that be?

All my searching has led me to check physical switch, relay, and fuse but like I said all are OK...

Suggestions? Ideas? what is the next step here...I need my high-beams!

    Thanks!

Edit: here are my components for those curious:

Is that year ground switched? If so you are only going to have 1 12v wire for common and two grounds for both HI and LOW.

The way it's wired now, there is the main power wire from light to plug, there is the signal high beam power from light to plug, and then there is the ground that is placed directly onto the body. It's the same way for the right and left side. I have no problems other than the high beam not coming on at all.

This plug is connected to the relay harness, it toggled just fine before final install, I'll update in a few hours after I check 12v directly to the plug. This will verify that the problem is not the lights/relay.

Have you confirmed your relay is for a ground switched vehicle? Your truck is ground switched, this means that is has constant 12v power and uses the grounds to control power. A conventional system is always grounded and turns on/off the 12v power. A high/low relay setup designed for conventional systems will not activate with a ground switched system like your truck has. Hard to say without a full wiring schematic.

According to the harness manufacturer it will: https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/Tx3RDU8CQO48MR6/ref=ask_dp_lsw_al_hza?asin=B00JJX1TA4

So I would need to route another ground from the harness to body?

Their answer does not instill much confidence but they do list it for a Tacoma. No, you would not want to add a ground as that would activate the high beams full time with no way to turn them off. Ground controls the power on a first gen, which is why they are so different. Most all vehicles use power to control something, the first gen always powers everything but completes the ground to turn it on.

I see what you are saying. I'll mess with it in the morning and update!
