Ugh...went to go duck hunting, but my blind is under water. 50+ degrees = snow melt, plus 2+ inches of rain. The normal slow meandering river is angry.

I have the curse ....one drink and it’s off to the races ! Wife says I shouldn’t drink at all Guess I fell down somewhere in the house last night my shoulder hurts more than usual don’t remember going to bed either Not good

 

You're like me. Its 1 or blackout. There is no in between.

 

I get migraines, they keep my drinking in check.

 

Well that is worth it then. I know guys that are only trapping their fox spots so they don’t lose them. One guy has furs that haven’t sold in two years.

She found this place here in Maine that will take the fur and make mittens, hats, etc. I think she's going for a pair of mittens to start.

What sets are you using?

 

For now, she's using just a few conibear sets along a small river. Placed in pinch/travel points. We've used sticks, logs, etc. to help.

Those things scare me.

 

Using any castor or aspen for bait?

 

Not much Aspen here, so she's using birch.

 

Landing in Albi and renting a 4x4

Highs in the low 20's estimated for our whole trip. Kinda like 2 years back, snowed the entire time. I loved it.

I could never live in a snow prone climate. But visiting for a long weekend is exciting.

Back when I was much much younger my dad, brother and I used to run 300 leg traps and 25 or so conibear traps. We trapped muskrats, beavers and coons. We ran them twice a day, I couldn’t do it anymore! This was in the late 60’s and thru the 70’s and we needed the money! I’m like you, never liked setting the conibears!

I also got pretty tired of skinning and stretching all those hides. It took 2 to 3 hours a night just on that alone.
