Haha yeah might need to lower it a little, but cant much with the spare tire. It's actually still lower than it was with the camper shell.

 

How much more noticeable is it vs the hardshell tent

 

Only driven about 10 miles with it so far. We stopped at a dog park to let Leo stretch his legs.

 

You got a point, it just looks higher lol.

 

So far not really any different. I'd say the camper shell was way more of a noticable difference than either tent. Having this bed rack is wonderful

 

I really like a bed rack, my toolbox is still usable and I can access the bed all the way around.
With the spare tire laying flat my water tight totes and cool fits perfect and it keeps them from looking like a jumping bean, lol.

Will packing it back up not be a pain that high?

 

Not with being able to step on sliders, tires, and tailgate. Remember I did this tent when I went to Moab. It's not easy 1 person but I've told Amy she has to help lol. Its doable though, and worth the trouble for the space now that we need it.

 

Gotcha. It’s real easy doing it solo at the height mine is. The cab side can be a pain though

 

But I can do all this with a $10 solenoid right?

And where can I find a hot ignition wire to turn on the solenoid? Just splice the harness?

Yes you can but how many amps is the $10 one you are asking about?
You can splice into anything that comes on when you turn the switch on if that is how you want it to turn on.
Radio, power outlets, cig lighter...
