    That spot is very dusty in the summer, no hill to climb if I recall, unlike spots just before, higher up. I just park closer to the dam, then backpack across the dam to head to back country lakes. Forecast is iffy on how much snow is coming.
    For those camping, are you sleeping on/in your trucks or have gear to stay warm sleeping on the snow? Reason I ask is to be sure you are equipped for sleeping on snow if not experienced. Don't forget winter boots no matter where you camp if in snow. Head gear too. If I go, should I throw some firewood in my truck? How friendly are any dogs coming? My dog likes to run, play, but will stand his ground now if attacked. He is almost 2, not aggressive, but may try humping other dogs if not deterred.

    Which spot? That whole area is dusty in the summer.

    We're all adults. They should know snow equals cold and to dress/prepare appropriately.

    Feel free to bring as much wood as you can pack.

    I'm bringing one of my dogs, Chance. He's a 2-year-old male. He's used to being dominated by my female. He's friendly and loves to play with other dogs, male or female. He's gotten along with three other members' dogs (@FirstTimeFirstGen, @TOP TACO and @ruffridha9) without issue, and he's also been around a couple large groups of dogs and has been fine.

    This clip pretty much shows his temperament. He's a happy-go-lucky kind of dog.


    The only time there has been an incident was when my female, Jelly, was present. That was my fault for not taking her for a walk to let her expend some energy after a 4-hour car ride. She was amped up and over-stimulated with all the people and dogs around.

    Chance was off leash and went after another dog (that he encountered earlier without issue) after Jelly (on leash) lunged toward the other dog. I think Chance was just picking up on her vibe. Jelly is his best dog friend and she bosses him around all the time. He does whatever she does.

    It all can be dusty, I just thought it was pretty deep in about the spot your pin drop is at. Couple inches deep later on in the summer.
    Sleeping on snow or cold ground calls for more insulation from the ground if no one has been out in those conditions.
    My dog would have the whole campsite torn up from his racing around, if I think he will be trouble I bring a 25' leash to anchor him.

    Ah, another State of Jefferson dude. :)
    Checked the snow map, no change, don't know when it gets updated. At the moment both ways look doable, maybe 4" coming up by Bear Valley CG off of 20, thru Graniteville longer ways before hitting snow, but don't know what dirt roads for mud will be like. Maybe up to 10" of snow by Sawmill, hard for me to decipher the graph colors.

    Which way you think you'll be going in? Been 23 to 24 degrees the last few days at my place. I may have to drive in by myself, thinking Saturday, don't know how my back will do sleeping on the ground since my last Chiropractor visit. Supposed to still be windy on Friday. Looks like 10" to 20" of snow by Sawmill. Snow map hasn't changed, I prefer a sunny spot if possible in the winter. I'm thinking may try to go in off of 20 by Bear Valley CG.

    Checking with the lady to see if we're still meeting up with some friends for a trip - would love to tag along. We've loved staying at Bowman, and stayed at Sawmill this year as well.
