Contrary to what many have said about octane boosters

not doing anything for their Tacoma’s. I reluctantly purchased a bottle of lucas oil octane booster and poured it in my last fill up with non ethanol 87 octane and the results I’ve experienced in throttle response and just the overall performance have been very impressive. I feel like I’m driving a much more powerful vehicle and it has much less lag shifting gears too.. I’m honestly very impressed with this stuff and just thought I’d share my experience with it

Well I’m no more than an everyday average consumer but I do drive dirt modified race cars across the country on short tracks of dirt and clay powered by 650 horsepower Mullins race engines and I’m telling you I can definitely tell a difference. I know what horsepower feels like and I’ve done nothing else to my little truck and the throttle response and power gain is very noticeable in my truck

You said you added the Lucas to the tank of 87 octane... Have you filled up with 93 octane before this to be able to compare to? If so, was there a perceived difference in power for you then? Is a bottle of the Lucas supposed to be added every tank? If so, what's the cost?

    Nice Mustang btw.

Yes I’ve only ran 87 non ethanol and 93 marathon premium in it and while I can tell a slight difference in the premium alone it’s not like I can feel with the lucas octane booster. It’s $8 a bottle and I’ve only done this once and it was last night when I filled up. Felt like a different vehicle when I drove it today

A $14 15oz bottle added to a tank of 87 will give an octane rating of about 90-91. A full tank of 91 would cost about $2 more than a tank of 87 depending on local prices.

I paid $7.98 from Walmart but it’s not something I’ll do every fill up. Just tried it out. Don’t really expect speed from the Tacoma but it did help throttle response for me and overall pull while under throttle

Do you actually think the engine in your Tacoma has absolutely anything in common with that Mustang or a race car? They are internal combustion, that's it.

You should know octane by itself does not change the power output from a gallon of gas.
What does change is the auto timing retard you truck will do for engine knock. You will get several hp because you have a higher octane but not because of the octane itself. You get it because your engine is smart and changes timing by itself.

In addition, you are running non ethanol gasoline which will give you a bit more hp because ethanol is not as powerful as pure gasoline.

So yes, you get maybe 10 hp but it's not the gasoline. In your case it's the blend of gas and the engine changing timing.
