Same thing with the people that want the "anytime fog mod" if I am running my high beams I want to see distance down the road. The LAST thing I want is extra foreground lighting

 

Not even close. The GE bulbs are 60% brighter. See the post here:

Sylvania Silverstars are a complete crap product for performance. Using a blue filter to filter out yellow light which is the majority of the halogen spectrum to make the bulb appear cosmetically whiter while producing significantly less output, and causing the bulb to run extra hot due to the filter which kills bulb life and then sell it as some performance upgrade is a joke. Lower output, lower performance, hotter temps, and shorter bulb life. Not an upgrade.

 

The Hikari with the Philips chips are by far the best LED I have ever tested, even better than LEDs costing far more than them. This is mainly due to their cleaver low profile cross section design.

Any yet they still lost to a stock wattage halogen.



Something else to note, all my tests were done at 13.2v. I've been told that 3rd gens run at higher voltage, which actually means all my numbers for halogens are far too low. I'll check back and confirm but I've had at least one member state they run 13.8v at the headlights, if that were true my halogen numbers would be about 30% too low, while it would have no affect on the LEDs. I will have to confirm the measurement on a 3rd gen.

You can run even higher voltage for greater output directly off the battery to drive the headlights about 16% brighter with a standalone HD halogen harness. I worked with a company to start making these harnesses to bring this product to market. While they made them for a while, I do not believe they make them any more. However another member is looking to sell their harness. Originally intended for 2nd gen H11 fogs it will work for 3rd gen H11 headlights.

 

I have put in Sylvania Ultra h4 and now I need to adjust beam aim suggestions?
They appear to be excellent overall but will know better after beam adjust

 

No direct halogen swap should ever require readjusting unless you put them in wrong, or the previous bulbs were in wrong.

 

I got the Hikari H 11 Led's from Amazon. Great improvement over OEM and nobody has ever flashed me. Works perfectly in the low beam projector lens, simple plug and go. OEM high beams are very good.

 

+1 on the H9 conversion. I've been using on dark country roads and it is a big improvement.

Why do you say this? I used your directions (at least I think they were yours) to level mine after putting in H9. Park 25 feet from a wall on a flat surface, measure the center of your projector, the light focus line (not sure what you call it) should be 2 inches lower than the center of your projector. I found both of mine housings needed adjustment up. I did it using those directions and have never been flashed by an oncoming car

 

I’m not saying that the headlights may not need adjusting, I’m saying swapping halogen bulbs will not change the headlight alignment. So with a new set of bulbs the headlights will be aligned exactly like they were with the stock bulbs.

In theory there should be no alignment change with different halogen bulbs but in practice that's not necessarily true. Right now I have a Philips Xtreme in the right side and a GE +130 in the left and where both Philips were aimed identically, the GE is a very slight tick higher. Different filament alignment from different manufacturers, no doubt. The GE bulb though shows more peripheral color variation than the Philips due to the blue bands that are supposedly outside of the main filament pattern. Why put them on there at all. The voltage at the light measured something like 13.82 or .83 with a Fluke 117. I remember what a difference it made on my thirty year old 911 when I added a relay kit. It bumped the voltage up from about 12.1 to 13, but in that car the battery is just behind the left front headlight and the alternator way in the back. Definitely some line drop there.

I wanted a plug and play LED replacement so I would not have to modify the truck. I tried various replacement halogen blubs but I either did not like the color of the light or the intensity was less than the original bulb. Tried several LEDs and liked the color of the light but the intensity was less than the original halogen and the light scattered to much out of the trucks original lens.
Finally I tried the HIKARI LEDs and they fit the car without any modifications. The color looked great and they were the brighest LED or halogen I tried. Another advanage of the HIKARI is that they are ajustable for desired beam patterns. Great LEDs and I recommend them for ease of installation and great lumination.

 

Yeah. Anyone can print anything on their product they want. Remember when there was such an anti Japanese sentiment in the U.S. market that many Japanese products were made in a part of Japan called Usa. They were marked: Made in USA, which was technically correct but rather misleading.

How are they adjustable. Just ordered a set

 

They don’t lock into place at all so you can spin them around. While LED vendors advertise this as a feature, no credible lighting product should be freehand ‘adjustable’. Lighting optics are ultra high precision, though all that goes out the window with LEDs. The only way an LED product should sit in the assembly is with the blade vertically so the LEDs point 90 degrees horizontally level to either side.

 

I ordered these a few days ago and should be getting them anytime. Glad to see they make a big difference.
