Lol ok here's a couple for ya.

    Bed lightsIMG_20181024_073211.jpg

And don't want to buy that expensive tool box for your bed? 'fraid it will take up too much bed space? Look no further! You and your tonneau can enjoy the luxery of a removable tool box for the low price of 1 bungee cord and a husky tool box.

1027181415.jpg Ok, three mods today with only $40 cash, a six pack of kilt lifter and two millers! My buddy and I made short work of replacing the CV axle. So while we finished our second beer I painted the front Toyota emblem flat black while we were admiring our work. Then we removed the charcoal filter, when I remembered seeing a set of 4 steel rims for $40 on Craigslist. He has a sand blaster in his garage so next weekend we'll blast them and paint them gloss black.

image.jpg image.jpg I will contribute one: two projector bags destined for the trash. I hang them over the rear headrests and fill them with various goodies that I need when camping or hiking like bear spray and binoculars. When I get home it is easy to grab the two bags with all my valuable gear. Cheers

Added an aux USB charging port next to cup holder(power tapped at cig lighter) and a cheap backup camera controlled by manual switch.

Remove the plastic cover by splitting it open to access the bundle of wires. There is one wire that has 12volts with key on. Mine is the black wire and I just use a wire tap connector to it to power the rear camera. Sorry but I taped it up but you can see the red camera power wire going to it.20181223_083602.jpg

Full disclosure, these rod holders were a total fail. Took up a lot of space in the cap, and the rods were constantly falling out. There is a kernel of an idea here, maybe someone else can do better, but I scrapped them early and put snowboard racks on the roof for transit to and from the beach.

I wonder if you put the notches on the side closest to the window it might take up less space? I'd also add a lip to the notches closest to the cab (or just make them holes through the wood) and a rubber tie down to the notches closest to the tailgate so you could "lock" the rod in place.

I have a $5 led light in my toolbox. Held on by velcro (could use more). It's battery powered so no wiring. However, they die faster in winter because batteries don't like cold

You can install some long screws or bolts along the heavier handle side holding the rods and simply use bundgy balls to tie each rod down around the screws. OP, good idea though.
