Taking off TRD Stickers

Use a steamer similar to the one you use for your clothes. This will heat the decal up and softens the adhesive slow so it all comes off in one pull with no need for goo gone or chemicals to get the adhesive. This works best with decals. To remove double sided tape such as the stuff underneath an eraser wheel will make your life 100X easier.

 

But how can people tell you drive a TRD Pro now?!?

 

don't know. guess they can't.

 

I did it w/o a heat gun, you can just park your truck in the sun for a few hours, the sheet metal heats up nicely.

 

I just bought a 2019 Super White access cab TRD Sport.

I took them all off in about an hour including the door "Tacoma" chrome, tailgate "V6" emblem.

No more chin spoiler either. Straight to the trash. Next, the headrests come out.

Thanks for the heat gun tip, I had forgotten how I did them on my 2007.

I hate the headrests and need to do that delete as well.

 

Took my factory one off and replaced with a nicer looking one.

 

My suggestion is to apply Goof Off once stickers are removed. Less harmful to the paint

 

Any tips for removing the emblems?

 

Anybody screw they up? What should we avoid?

 

Heat + Fishing Line + Goo Gone

 

Emblems: Heat gun on high, start on the letter "A" with a yellow plastic (HF) pry tool. I used a rag here too, but if you are careful, once you get under it and get it going, they come right off. Then you carefully heat the black goo left on the paint and roll it off like a booger. I use a very soft towel with Goof Off to get the residue off. Buff it with another very soft towel. You can't tell anything was ever there. I bought the truck last night, and took all this stuff off first thing this morning. Best to do it when the truck is brand new, now shadowing/discoloring issues. What was Toyota thinking about on that hideous chin spoiler?

My neighbor thinks I'm crazy.

Use goo gone not goof off

 

I had no issues with goof off. You must be careful with this whole process, but it came out fine.

Goo Gone is probably less harsh.

I used one of the 3m eraser wheels to take vinyl business logos off of my old truck when I sold it. It worked but I would be hesitant to use it on new paint, just seems like there might be too much friction.

 

Anybody have feedback on taking out the stupid rear headrests?

I took the primary cover off, I think unsnapping the rest of the seat back and digging in there is next.........
