Hmmm not as good as I used to be.
Laywire tig on 1/4" plate at 85 amps. I blame the porosity on me almost being out of gas and filthy torch consumables. Still better than @BartMaster1234 tho considering its been a year since Ive tig welded.

They’re a big improvement over the stock buckets. And the best feature is the slide and fold like stock.

I originally bought Lexus ES300 seats, but they don’t have the folding feature.

 

Nope, I just want that damn thing to go to a home that can use it. I fear the city is going to impound it any day.

 

Yes. No wiring, just need to weld the feet on which I already took off.

I don't think you can legally own anything in California, it's all state owned and you lease it for a high price

 

Tig welding is quite appealing, but I see little use for it for working on cars. I don't think you will find me fixing some broken exhaust hangers under the truck.

 

It's massively useful on cars, exhausts, intakes, sheet metal work, way better than a MIG. But yeah for the 200lb gorilla just sticking together brackets and frame parts it isn't hugely useful

Anything that can be taken to a work bench, yes TIG. Anything else will be MIG welded.

 

Thank god our seat belt anchors are in the floor and the B pillar.

 

@koditten Here they are. 1998 Tacoma bucket seat versus 2007 Scion tC bucket seats.

I still like my black leather memory foam heated power Lexus ES300 seats better, but I need that sliding feature.

I don't have to get you to, I work on my own shit haha. MIG is metal hot glue gun, and as such is pretty uncontrolled, you can do nice work with it but it isn't ideal for fine work like titanium, aluminum, and stainless. It's fine for cheapo work on mild steel and aluminized steels though as long as they aren't too thin. It's certainly the easiest, and will get you through most non specialized stuff. With the proper equipment to back purge and clamp you can do plenty of TIG work on the vehicle too, but really for proper work you shouldn't be leaving things in place after you've tacked it whether you're working with MIG or TIG.

A multiprocess machine is next on my list for the garage, I want to get back to learning to TIG well. I've got car parts I want to build and there's no way in hell a MIG machine is going to accomplish any of them unfortunately.

 

If it can go on the bench or is stainless, I tig weld it. If Im under the car, Im mig welding. I built my sliders via tig welding, took forever but they are beatiful welds. However, I built my rear bumper in 2 lunch breaks with a mig welder and oxy fuel torch. Much faster, albeit not as pretty. I need to get some stainless rods and some scrap stainless to try on as Ive never done any stainless.

Also, the 26 series torch is a bit too heavy so I may go down to a 17 series flex head. That may be part of my inconsistency issue.
