    I'm meeting some friends in Central Park while traveling past NY. I'll have my dogs with me so I can't use public trans. Any recommendations on where I can park? I dont mind walking a bit but not an hour to and from the car.

    Looks like you have just a few options... Depending where in Central Park are you meeting up. If Upper West Side, you could drive around a few blocks, and you're lucky enough, you might score some on street parking. Just pay attention to Street Cleaning signs and/or parking meters... Or, just go straight for paid parking garages. Parking garage might be best option on Upper East Side, with all the museums and whatever other attractions it's harder to find free curbside parking there.
    Good luck and have fun!

    Just keep an eye on the height clearances because Some garages can’t fit trucks (I’m assuming u will be in a taco).

    That's been my main concern. I live near DC and parking garages can be a real pain. I'm in a stock 2018 pro so it's not too high or too long but still a problem in some garages.

    No more Taco. A 2500HD and a Bronco sport

    The further north you are around Central park (around 108th st.) The easier parking will be it’s a much more residential area as opposed to closer to midtown. Central Park is huge though so it all comes down to where you’re all meeting up. Most parking garages have a max height of 6ft-6ft 3in or so in the area but some have tall ceilings.

    Do you usually notify the park/police prior to parking overnight?
    From what I've read as long as the parking lot is one of the designated ones, notification isn't needed...

    No need to notify. Like you said, just park in a designated trail head spot. There usually is a trail head sign in book once you start. Just sign in and out of that. What area are you thinking?

    I've day-hiked around Lake Skannatati, but it would be nice to fully explore some of that area.

    Morning NY!

    Has anyone been to Seven Lakes this time of year? Are the roads open? I have a couple of days off and feel like taking a ride from Catskill.

    @Bastek thoughts?

    Screenshot_20181227-094523.jpg

    Edit: I see some roads are closed this time of year.

    But if you go, take some pics so I could be even more jealous of your free time!

    I usually venture up North but would like to give southern NY some love. I'm gonna take a ride anyway. :)
