It's almost insulting that they throw in a spool of wire.

Yeah but at $3k it's still one of their cheaper machines and one they sell as ready to weld haha

Its funny cause thats usually flux core wire that they give you with the machine. Truly, ready to weld. Even without a bottle of gas.

It is funny. A person that spends $3k on a machine is going to use this for flux core welding? It's idiotic.

If they need a machine for flux core, there are lots of much, much cheaper choices that will do that for you and do it well.

It's a stupid marketing scheme that insults me.

There are folks with much deeper pockets than either you or I who will buy something like this just for Flux core because it is a nice Miller. That line of thinking sounds stupid but it's how lots of shops go about it. Of course to a bigger shop with a few fabricators 3K for a solid flux core machine is just trinkets to them anyway.

Now giving out dual shield on the other hand, is an idea I can get behind.

Free gas bottle with purchase of a welder would be nice. Could always use another cylinder

That stuff is magical. No use for it on our trucks, but nice to work with.

Thats what got me when I bought my machine. Spent $700 on it and the accessories, then had to drop another $150 on 80cf of argon.

If you are using that machine, you are gonna need several different bottles to get the full use out of it.

One of the local guys here in sd services welding equipment, maybe he could get you a deal when youre ready to purchase it. Not 100% sure he sells em but I bet he would know where a used one might be.

A lor of people harp on regular flux core, but its what I learned on. I put more 2lb spools of that through my cheap campbell hausfeld 115 v machine than the manufacturer probably ever intended on. Its great for welding outside, and can make a bit hotter weld at a lower voltage. If I bought a mig machine, I would run straight Lincoln Innershield through it. If it makes sparks, I weld outside. Too many flammables in the garage. So I bought a tig machine so I can weld in the garage instead.

I've run probably 25lbs through my old HF 90amp flux core welder. Was it pretty, fuck no, has anything broken, nope. I keep it around as a just in case type deal. But man do I like the .025 Lincoln MIG wire with 75/25 more, can weld so much cleaner with that and the same effort.

It's great if you can swing it, I'd love to have the skill to make one. I prefer titanium though if I'm making something super special. Otherwise 304 stainless is great.

No doubt. But mig welding outside is hopeless. Lincoln NR-211 or Hobart HB-21 Flux Core wire is a godsend in terms of its lack of spatter, so its what I use if I cant wait to mig weld something after hours at work.

Ah, the HF 90A Craptastic. Good stuff.
Are you sure? Seems like it would be prone to cracking with all the flexing it must withstand.

Maybe in wind, but in AZ I've had zero problems welding outside. Even in WA it was okay we'd just put up some curtains. The NR-211 is nice though, it doesn't like AC much.
