Just picked up a cav blue taco and it needs a lift.
I've got a 2k budget for the lift and want something functional that can be expanded upon as the need arises. Was thinking 3/2 would be about right.
I wheel my rigs pretty hard and expect bumpers skids and sliders as funds are available.
I'd like it as complete as possible with brake lines, bumpstops and all brackets need to be included in that 2k.
What do you suggest? Links to reputable vendors are appreciated. I like to help those who help the community to so any forum vendors would be great.

Thanks guys. I've read a ton on here already so have a good idea what I need but I come from a solid axle world and the components are decidedly different.

Pic of old ride for some offroad cred

    Contact Marie over @HeadStrong Off-Road
And tell her what you want from or expect out of the truck.

So it's not possible to get a decent starter set than can be expanded on for 2k? Thanks for the help.

If you can install yourself then an Icon stage 2 lift would be in your budget.

    4x

I will do it all myself. Good point I forgot some people pay for installs.

If you plan on putting a lot more weight on the truck, you might as well save a bit more and wait a bit longer to put the appropriate suspension on. I'd say your looking closer to $3K. Black Friday brought killer deals that dropped those prices significantly.

You can do a fox or icon suspension. Or a ome or bilstein lift with ome coils on the front forvs tad cheaper.

If you keep the lift limited in front then you don't need to get UCA's immediately and can get them later, then raise it.

Maybe say that to start instead of being an ass. At this point I'm not gonna listen to your opinion either way. That thank you was meant to be sarcastic as I knew you were wrong when I set the budget.

Oh I know, and I totally ignored it. Continue to be offended over nothing.

Have a specific kit in mind or just the brands in general? I've ran fox and bilstein before and was happy

Educate me on the negatives of forgoing upper arms at first? Is it just the angles not reaching spec or is the ball joints gonna fail or limit the shock travel?

Biggest thing is caster so you can get a good alignment...

Edit - If you don't go very high you can get an alignment within spec, but you're not going to get as high as the coilovers would go.

I'd think about just working on the front end with your budget and get UCA's and coilovers first, then add the back end.

If you stay below 3 inch then you can keep the stock uca's. After market ones allow for better alignments.
I am not familiar with exact prices, just know those are within or close to your described budget. @HeadStrong Off-Road has very good pricing and awesome customer service

Thanks. I'll have to read up on that some. At lower lifts on a solid axle caster doesnt really matter. We just dialed in something between factory and zero so the front drive shaft is happy. Not sure about IFS.

At least 2.5 to 3 on caster for stockband if runnings larger tire it may need to go up to 4 or 5
