The reason it's clean is due to proper (or even short cycled) OCIs and a quality oil. Which Amsoil is. At a price.

However, most other modern oils deliver the same results. Even SuperTech.

I've never seen sludged up internals based on brand (or even Wt) of oil. Only from neglect.

Usually run 89 in all my cars. I wouldn’t mind giving amsoil products a try this time around.

Ummmmm….wow....cool....thanks all lol....the thing I find interesting is the number of people running 87.....the reason I say this is most forums are populated by "enthusiasts" and therefore I expected a lot of 91 "no matter what the manual says" lol.

As for oil I was waiting for the Royal Purple vs the world so sure....GO!

    Thanks and Happy Holidays!

There are few guys on here that run 91+ to get rid of the 50-60mph stumble. That’s about the only reason why they run it though.

Yeah my 08 TRD 4X2 Off Road 6 speed would smoke this thing no matter the octane but add DC and 4x4 and this pig gets heavy lol....needs a small block....already gets small block mileage....

Mobil 1 OW-20, as asked for in the manual.

I run 85, but I live at pretty high elevation (low air pressure) so of course the effects of that are likely comparable to 87 at lower elevation. I've seen that 85 is not an option in many places...

What if there were only 1 brand of oil and 1 octane of gas?

Do you guys agree with the 10,000 mile first oil change that Toyota dealers schedule. I have always changed oil every 5000 in every truck I have owned. And am running a lot of 89 oct due to 2.25 prices.

I did it at around 450, typically at 500 I do my first then at a couple thousand. Why?
Piece of mind to get out break in particles and who knows how old factory fill is
Get underneath to check things out and Fluid Film.

Since they are tuned to run 87 at sea level, would being in the mountains change things? Could one benefit running higher octane at higher elevation?

I did my first at 1k or so then next at 10k and most recent at 20k. Shipped the 10 and 20 out to Blackstone. Everything looks good and even recommended I could push to 11-12k if I wanted, this is with pulling hills at high rpm and idling in the hot AZ sun for literally hours at a time for weeks. I'll keep It at the 10k recommended oci.

What kind of twisted mind do you have to even think of something ludicrous like that...much less post that shit in a public forum?
