I kinda got a thing for "real" no hole or 2 piece barrel S&W revolvers.

I've tried to love more than a couple semi-auto's, but I keep coming back to wheel guns. The first gun I ever purchased was a 4" S&W Model 10 Royal Hong Kong Police turn-in, and I am still kicking myself for selling that gun before I moved from Maryland to Alaska. I needed the money and I didn't want to try getting through Canada or California (which was on my planned route) with a handgun. :(

All I have now is a well worn but fine shooting 2" Model 10, late 70's vintage I think, that was a pawn shop rescue for $200 and a 357 LCR that's my hiking/fishing gun. I'm looking to add either a K-22/Model 17 or a SP101 in 22lr for a winter .22 bullseye league in the near future.

My son called me a few weeks ago asking if a had an extra pistol, I offered shot guns extra but he wanted a small revolver so I got him a Sp101 3" 357mag for his XMas gift ..
Kinda funny, I purchase it new 5yrs ago, than sold it to a friend when I purchased my wife a SP101 4" 357mag for her bed stand ..
Glad he sold it back to me for what I sold it to him for, It saved me a few hundred:yes:

I only have two revolvers. One is a Soviet Nagant revolver - nothing special about it and just like the thousands sold here in the US after they were imported from Ukraine and Russia.

My Smith & Wesson Pre-Victory .38 Special M&P was a lucky find. I bought it on Gunbroker based on a few pictures. Didn't have a lot of data in the description but it looked nice and the price was good so I grabbed it. Turned out to be fully numbers matching including the grips. I sent off for a factory letter that confirmed it was produced in April 1942 and shipped to the Brits under Lend-Lease.

Do you have any info on that Model 10? Is it a Victory model? Did it come with that stubby barrel or was it changed out at some point?

S&W made a lot of 2" Model 10's. The round butt model seems to trade better.

    I've carried a 442 but the 586-8 and 629-6 don't work for carry.

I carry a 642 a lot. The 586/686 L frames were good for LEO agencies, but I wouldn't want to carry one concealed. I have a 2.5" 686 and it's smaller, but far from small.

Yeah I get that. I'm trying to determine if it's a Victory Model. The one you've pictured I'm guessing is much newer than the one in question.

    Yay, wheelgun thread :dancingbacon:

Here's my safe queen - Colt 1917 in 45ACP, manufactured 1918. Inherited from my grandfather. I take it out once a year, clean it, fire it, clean it again, and stare at it before putting it back.

Then there's the working guns, Fat Man and Little Boy:

The Ruger Alaskan is my chest carry for the woods. Shoots 45 cowboy loads like a cap gun. With full house .454 bear loads, hold on tight!

The .38 is an early 2000's Charter Arms Undercover. Lots of people hate on the Charters but I have found it to be reliable and accurate.

I'll have to return with photos of the .22 plinkers - can't find them right now.

Smith didn’t start using model numbers until 1957, so it’s not a Victory model. Being a -5 puts it being manufactured between 1962 and 1977. Best I can tell it was a factory 2” barrel.

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
My first revolver was a charter arms target patriot in .327 mag and my wife carries it everyday now that I have bumped up to a .357. It always shot good with me and seemed well put together.

The insert is made by Tyler. Very easy to install. Check out their website. http://www.t-grips.com/

In their day, those two revolvers were common carry pieces. The model 65 as a duty gun and the model 60 in an ankle holster.

I do like those two with the T-Grips but looks like they don't make them for my GP-100 & SP101, I'll probably have to call them ..
Here's the best I can come up with for finger grips, the 3" I give to my son for his x-mas ..

With those nice grips you don't need an insert !
