    Hey TW
Just wanted to get opinions from other tacoma owners on what i should ask for my Tacoma. Been toying with the idea of trading in my truck but thought i would try selling it private party first. I don't want to list it and basically be "that guy" asking a million bucks for his truck just because i have a couple mods.

Just wondering if anyone thinks i can get 23k for my truck. Am i off? is asking KBB never a good idea?
Haven't sold a car PP in a very long time. the truck books @ 23,xxx based off of 92374 zip code in good shape.

    truck details.
    2008 double cab v6 TRD offroad prerunner w/32k miles.clean title/no accidents/ orig owner
    Extended 75k warranty
    30k mile maintenance done.
synthetic oil since first oil change.
    5100's set @ 2.5"
rear is stock. (slight Bro Montana lean)
285/75/16 nittos on kmc xd 16x8's
color matched grill, mirrors, and rear bumper.
satoshi grill with two hella 500's behind
    eyelids and the bhlm done.
    luminics yellow fogs
jensen single din flip out dvd/mp3 player w/ two kicker shallow 10's. 850w amp
sock'd front valence vinyl. bed mat, bed extender, bed lights. ammo can storage.
    black base model interior/dash swap.
pop and lock w/ hose clamp mod.
the truck doesn't have any major mods to go tell your grandma about, so i am not worried about parting out or getting extra $$ for mods.
hers are some pics. I will more than likely have the interior detailed before listing it for sale.
no dings or dents. only taken offroad a couple times, my DD/mall krawler :D

    would i be crazy to ask 22k- 23k ?
it's hard to hurt my feelings, so be as honest as you guys want

    Private Party Value

Kelley Blue Book Private Party Value is the amount a buyer can expect to pay when buying a used car from a private party. The Private Party Value assumes the vehicle is sold "As Is" and carries no warranty (other than any remaining factory warranty). The final sale price may vary depending on the vehicle's actual condition and local market conditions. This value may also be used to derive Fair Market Value for insurance and vehicle donation purposes.

    More Photos
    Condition [IMG] ValueExcellent
    $24,455
    Good
    $23,205
    Fair
    $21,255

    Close Private Party Value

This value assumes the vehicle has received the cosmetic and/or mechanical reconditioning needed to qualify it as "Excellent". This is not a transaction value; it is representative of a dealer's asking price and the starting point for negotiation.

    Close Poor

    • Severe mechanical and/or cosmetic defects and is in poor running condition.
    • May have problems that cannot be readily fixed such as a damaged frame or a rusted-through body.
    • Branded title (salvage, flood, etc.) or unsubstantiated mileage.
Kelley Blue Book does not attempt to report a value on a "poor" vehicle because the value of these vehicles varies greatly. A vehicle in poor condition may require an independent appraisal to determine its value.

    Close
    Vehicle Condition Ratings

    Excellent

"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks new, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. This vehicle has never had any paint or body work and is free of rust. The vehicle has a clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection. The engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects. The vehicle also has complete and verifiable service records. Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.

    Good
    (Selected)

"Good" condition means that the vehicle is free of any major defects. This vehicle has a clean title history, the paint, body and interior have only minor (if any) blemishes, and there are no major mechanical problems. There should be little or no rust on this vehicle. The tires match and have substantial tread wear left. A "good" vehicle will need some reconditioning to be sold at retail. Most consumer owned vehicles fall into this category.

    Fair

Some mechanical or cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is still in reasonable running condition. Clean title history, the paint, body and/or interior need work performed by a professional. Tires may need to be replaced. There may be some repairable rust damage.

    Poor

"Poor" condition means that the vehicle has severe mechanical and/or cosmetic defects and is in poor running condition. The vehicle may have problems that cannot be readily fixed such as a damaged frame or a rusted-through body. A vehicle with a branded title (salvage, flood, etc.) or unsubstantiated mileage is considered "poor." A vehicle in poor condition may require an independent appraisal to determine its value. Kelley Blue Book does not attempt to report a value on a "poor" vehicle because the value of cars in this category varies greatly.

That's a nice truck. I'd start in the 24-25k range and see what happens, but unless you have to, I wouldn't go below 23k. JMO

I think your target buyer would be someone who wants a new tacoma but already wants aftermarket work done. Price seems reasonable.

Your price seems about right IMO at about $23K. I got my similar 2008 DC SR5 TRD OR with 18,XXX miles for $22,3XX OTD at a dealership. Granted, that included $1K off the top with my wife's discount.

EDIT: And man, you need to AAL that thing! LOL ;)

Check your local Craigslist.com and autotrader.com to get an idea of what other folks with a 2008 are asking in your area. Around here I think that would definitely go for 23 or better. Good luck with your sale.
