If you plan on using 4x4 you need to do front and rear.

I see. Probably the most significant "Power" bump that is available for this vehicle currently.

Debatable. For far less money you get the ovtune with significant bonuses to power. Regears should be post-tune mods, as necessary, imo based on price and benefits provided.

Regearing is necessary when running 33” or larger tires. Regearing does not add power, it simply reduces the effort on the engine to move the vehicle due to larger tires and added weight.

Gears definitely costs more. But like trident said you’re just reducing the effort by changing the ratio. I could’ve easily done the OV tune but opted for gears because well, it made more sense than a tune.

I added weight and changed the overall diameter tire that my truck pulls. Regearing from 3.73 to 4.88 technically overgeared my truck with 33’s to a certain degree. Which gave it more pep than stock truck/stock tires.
It’s a mechanical change (which I like) because I don’t gotta mess with tune files, purchase a laptop or tablet with windows specifically, or worry about new updates. Gears is gears. Set it up properly and enjoy it.

Not saying I’m anti OV, just no one where I lives has it for me to even try it to decide. Everyone is hooked on pedal commander recently and that just makes zero sense haha. If I could try OV out to see if I liked it at all, I would for sure

That's why I had "Power" in quotes.

    If I re-gear won't I have a faster 0-60?

    Depending on tire size.
    35” and 4.88’s accelerate different than 37’s and 4.88’s

I feel like I jumped in this thread and screwed the entire ov tune purpose. I apologize for that.

    Everyone, proceed.

Have you tried pedal commander before?

I watched some reaction videos with sprint booster.

Each video seemed to show a positive reaction from the person reacting.

As far as OVtune... the difference between pre and post TSB was so significant for me, that I can only imagine what OVtune 91 feels like.

You really think you need to regear for 33s with an MT? I've been looking at 285/70's (just shy of 33"s) and there seems to be mixed opinions but agreement that it's less of an issue for the MTs because we can select our own gear and start with a 4.3 final drive. If you have to regear you might as well go 35s.

Personally, no I haven’t. But after reading and seeing what it’s really about, I’d rather spend double the amount on the OV. The pedal commander just tricks the throttle body into “opening more” than the pedal is actually pushed. It doesn’t change any air fuel ratios/timing or anything with the ecu.
With the pedal commander imagine pushing the pedal 50%, and the throttle body opening 62% (I just made those figures up but the principle is the same)

Once ov 1.05 is released, I’ll study the reactions more and make my decision (it’s already leading to a good one but I’m not 100% convinced on it all yet)

I’m familiar with flashing and tuning (I have a g35 flashed and tuned with uprev - basically same thing as OV), but with uprev I can do all the tweaking or take it on the dyno and have a tuner finesse it. OV doesn’t offer that and it’s all emailed tunes (although I’m sure you can data log if you wanted to), but I wanna see what 1.05 offers before anything else.

Like apple product updates if you catch my drift. I want it, I’ll be honest. But why should I buy now if a new one is around the corner is how I feel right lol

If it’s just 33’s and no armor, you’ll be fine. Add armor and you’ll need to regear.

Yeah, the days of easily buildable non-ricer cars are gone.

Just sold my R8, too expensive to maintain. Looking at getting a Challenger soon and building a real drag car.

Question about the 1.04R going for the TSB update in couple of days. I'm currently running the 1.04 "91"

how is the TSB update with the 1.04R ? Do some of you TACO OWERS have some inside on it ?

as well does some have the 1.04R they can send me ?

    Thanks

The file is specific to your ECU (04B11, 04A70 etc). If you email Matt about 1.04, he should be able to email that one to you. Every time I need the latest map, I never see it on the flashing software, so I just send him an email and he gets back to me Pretty quick with the file. He sent me 1.03b and 1.04 that way and once 1.05 gets released to us non TSB updated guys I’ll ask for that one unless it comes up on the flash software.

With any luck 1.05 for the M/T will be out by the time you get the TSB done. You might as well just run the TSB until it gets released.

ETA You would also need to email Mat for 1.04r for your ecu ID as sharing OVTune files is a no go per Mat. He can identify individual files and their origin, if you ever wanted a custom tune he could flag you for having "pirated" software as well as flag the individual who sent it to you.
