    A few minor things...

TL;DR unless the bear is dead, it'll get ya in the woods.

I heard a .44 magnum is fairly effective at solving bear problems.

    Work in progress...
I have spent a lot of time in bare territory so I should be of great value in this discussion.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I run into bear a lot up in NC near our mtn house. Due to the fact that people won’t take care of their trash properly, I have seen them more and more each year. Like most bear, they’re looking for a quick meal. Like dogs they scavenge.
Best thing you can do is put you food in a Bear Safe and either hoist it in a tree or place it a good ways (150-200’) away from camp. May sound a bit like bs, but truest that’s the best way to keep Bears out of your site. Of yeah, don’t dump your dish water near camp either, that attracts them just like food...as it is food.
Now a hungry Grizzly, all bets are off. Keep bear spray on your hip while your asleep, and a 10mm on your chest.

Bacon grease smeared on the ladder rungs is a good deterrent, they can’t get a grip and will just get frustrated and go away.

However, you will be greeting them in the morning as they will still be there licking the grease...good luck getting down then on a greased up ladder.
On a side note, I watched my buddy bust his ass majorly walking down his RTT ladder facing outwards. Holy Hell his face plant looked painful.

It was a joke, when in bear country I’m very selective what food gets consumed. Very little cooking, mostly freeze dried and sandwich’s. Cooking will really bring them in!

I tend to eat all my food with a trash bag wrapped around my upper torso, thus no smells will get out. This is also a joke.

We car camp allot and when in bear and cat country we regularly stop to cook and then clean up before making our way to that nights camp. And we always try to cook and eat in a place that others behind us won’t use for their own camp.

So do you also need to have a 3/8 drive ratchet or just the 10mm?
