Where did you hear that rumor? Last I heard Nissan will continue the 14 year old platform.

I had a Cummins on an 8 inch long arm kit with 40×15.5x17 tires. Got my tacoma to actually use as a truck and do not regret it

I have sat in one and though I wouldn’t say they’re shit by any means bc they’re nice. Imo they do seem cheap to me and I tested the new Cummins and power stroke before buying my duramax. To each their own though

Had a 2012 f250 diesel that I daily drove for a year. Awesome power, plenty of room and always felt safe. Parking sucked. Emissions crap is faulty if you leave it and don’t drive long distances, and can’t pass emissions with it off. So I sold it and used the equity to buy a fairly low mileage v10 that still gets the heavy duty jobs done and bought the Tacoma for daily driving. Wanted the six foot bed so I can still put 2 dog kennels in the bed when taking the dogs places.

It’s like people have never seen a full size truck before.

    Or a Tacoma.

Ditto. That mirrors my sentiment on the highway. I was getting like 13-14mpg on the highway at 75-80 with any wind at all. It wanted to run in 4th gear all the time (while thinking it wanted to try 5 and 6 frequently but always changing its mind in the end).

I know these are "little trucks" and will never run like a bmw on the highway. But 2nd gen was far better on the highway at interstate speeds. I had no complaints, all things considered. Loved all my 2nd gens. For what it was (a compromise), it did very well. But 3rd gen on the interstate sucked imo. A whole different animal compared to the 2nd gen. Night and day.

I just did the opposite. The Taco is an awesome truck and we used the shit out of it. But Wife, Me and two little girls with a dog is awefully tight. We started leaving the dog at home and it wasn’t ok in my book so I went with a Z71 with the 5.3l. I’m pretty happy with it so far, it’s got all the goodies but needs a height extension. Any who, when the kids are out of the house I have big plans for the 5th gen taco. Make sure the size fits your needs and do lots of mods!

By far the nicest interior of any truck on the market currently.

I had the same experience with my truck on stock tires/tune for the first 4000 miles. After the last TSB update and a 1200mile road trip, it drives 100% better than it did, holds gears, 6th gear is viable all while being on 58lb, 33" tires and loaded down with 700-800lbs of payload.

Keep the F-250. Just learn to park and back in wherever you go. They don’t require 2 spots to park

I just bought an 18 a few months ago. I should have waited for the ranger or the jeep truck. Coming from jeeps to the Taco is a big switch. The Taco steering is numb, the motor is anemic, the seating position is for Lego people. It feels like a car, it has no soul. My 1st truck and 1st taco. My only answer when people ask if I like it, is, it's boring. Feels like driving a minivan with a bed. Keep the f250

Depending on the state you live in, selling on your own might not save the difference in taxes on a trade. For example, in TN if you trade in a vehicle and feet $40k on the trade and then buy a $41k vehicle, you only pay taxes on $1k. If you try to sell that same $40k trade in, you may get $43k but will wind up paying tax on the full $41k of the vehicle you buy, which will me more than the $3k difference (obviously also depending on the tax rate in your state).

You also gotta remember that Toyotas in general aren't heavily discounted like American vehicles, so everyone else that has a ford also got a huge discount on theirs, effectively lowering the trade in and resale value.

You post here people will say you’re not crazy, and infact it’s the better decision. You post in a Ford forum, and well they are gonna tell you it’s the stupidest decision you can make. Same would be said vice-versa.

Only you will be able to figure out what is the best decision for yourself.

One recommendation I’ll make is get a dealer to let you take one home for the night. Drive it around and use it just like you would any normal day. Also make sure it’s going to be capable of doing everything you need it to because comparing it to a f250 is like comparing apples to watermelon

Yeah, the first model year usually has some issues. That’s what warranties are for. I’d rather fix my AC or Infotainment system once in the beginning under warranty then have a truck that drives like shit without a tune from the dealer you have to practically beg for...

Searched for keyword “problem” in the 3rd gen forums and guess what I found.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/search/7347364/?q=Problem&o=date&c[title_only]=1&c[node]=186

5 pages of threads regarding problems with peoples trucks. Yet nobody goes around questioning Toyota’s reliability. It’s been discussed a million times before here. A forum full of people who obsess and analyze every little thing about their truck who find problems isn’t really representative of the entire population of hundreds of thousands of these trucks produced. People vigorously use this argument in defense of Tacoma’s but cherry pick some data from a competitors forum?

Just wait, he’s gonna tell you it’s actually not the nicest interior on the market because “touch screens are stoopid” and he doesn’t “need all that crap”.

Earlier this year I went from a F150 4 door, to a 2018 Tacoma Sport. Love the Tacoma, as you said it yourself and wife and son. I really only have myself and wife (and 2 large dogs). The tacoma has the same tow power my F150 did that worked for me, the bed pretty much holds the same amount. For me it was a great trade-in and purchase.

I would say it all depends on what your using the F250 for. If it's just a daily driver cause you wanted a big truck and don't use it much for heavy towing or anything, then I would go for the Tacoma. Tacoma's still tow like 6400lbs if I remember right. Probably get better gas mileage than the F250 also.

but it really comes down to your choice. Good luck!

A double cab Tacoma is roughly about the size of a extended cab f150. Doesn’t have the track width as well. Overall length the F150 is about 2 ft longer, with the same configuration

Traded my 2011 Lariat for a 2018 TRD Off Road! I was having all kinds of mechanical issues with the DPF and turbo. I decided I just didn’t have any use for a diesel so I did some home work and I decided on the Tacoma. So far best decision I’ve made! F3561879-66F8-475F-950F-839304D371CA.jpg
