What f150 did you have to where the Tacoma has the same towing ability?

2011 F-150 with ecoboost. I think the F-150 was like 7400 lbs and my Tacoma has 6400 lbs.

And to what I stated, it had the same tow power that worked for me, my boat weighs about 3800 lbs and both trucks had the capability to tow it with no issues. But the Tacoma gets much better gas mileage towing the same boat as my F-150 did.

If you had the ecoboost the towing is well over 10k

I went from an 01 F250 7.3 to an 05 Tacoma. I was usually the only one in the truck and in the 2 years that I had it, only once did I use it for something that a Tacoma would have struggled with. It was the right choice for me.

Because up until last week I owned a Tacoma and just felt like browsing. I saw this thread and felt like I could offer some insight now that I own a competitors truck. I don’t hate Tacomas. I enjoyed the one I had, but it just ended up being too small and I missed the interior comforts that I’ve had before. Granted, I had an SR5, but even with the higher packages the interior is behind other trucks, and entune sucks regardless of the trim. For what I’d pay for a decently equipped OR or Limited, I could buy a nice full size truck, which is what I did.

I’m not on here to try to sow discord and pound my chest about how Toyota sux and ram rulz!!! There’s plenty of people who are still on this forum after switching to a competitor’s truck. This is a vibrant forum with a lot of discussion outside of truck stuff as well.

I swear, Tacoma owners can’t seem to take any criticism about their truck.

Is the F250 paid off ?
Sounds like the Tacoma is to small for you, stay with the F250,no way in hell would I get rid of a F250 for a Tacoma,Tacoma's have shitty gas millage for the size of the truck.Better to keep your Ford.

Absolute DO NOT trade an F250 for a Taco. While the Taco is a nice looking truck and capable truck, the transmission / engine combo are absolutely hands down the worst thing I’ve ever driven. Anyone here who says otherwise is in denial and has simply accepted drank their coolaide. I owned one for almost one year. The worst behavior of any vehicle I’ve driven. The transmission is always in the highest gear you’ll allow with a locked convertor. Constantly lugging the engine. The engine has no low end power. Imagine driving a stick shift that’s always one gear too high. It will downshift on demand but that usually ends up with too much “go” so you let up a bit and it immediately shifts back up and lugs the engine some more. I was happy with truck otherwise. It was like a pair of shoes that just don’t fit. I traded up to a 4runner that works as it should.
I also own a 2006 2500HD Duramax/Alison. This truck is hands down the best engine and transmission combo I’ve ever driven. All the power you need and the transmission is always in the proper gear. It’s a hoss. Size wise t’s not for city living.

I went from a full size Silverado to my Tacoma. It was an adjustment but after a couple of months of ownership I wouldn't go back. I live in the country with acreage and use my Tacoma to plow snow and tow a TT around 4 times a year. If you plan to tow with the truck get the manual. You won't have the hunting issues that some auto owners complain about. You will be surprised how well the truck tows for occasional use.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Ya need to find a buddy that will let you hold onto his for a day or two, the size is a huge difference. If your not pulling or have a truck full of kids & dogs you will be good.
I am 6’2” @ 265lbs, and I fit and enjoy driving my Tacoma. I do have a tundra as well. For daily I like my Tacoma, for work I wouldn’t trade my tundra for anything, but I am not hauling with it either (a landscape trailer doesn’t count as towing).

Just put a 6 inch suspension and 3 inch body lift kit with 37's and then you will feel real powerful and won't worry about the Tacoma being a "compact" vehicle!

Same tow power? Yeah, definitely not.... 100hp/tq difference between the two.

I was looking at OVTune before getting the ECU update a month or so ago. Since then the drivability has been much better. It holds gear in hilly areas where it would hunt like crazy. When I push the gas, it goes right now instead of thinking about it for a second or 2.

There’s no way in hell I’d trade my 2011 6.7l F250 for a tacoma. I have a wife and 2 children, my f250 is paid for and gets better fuel mileage on 35’s than my tacoma does. I do have an 04 double cab tacoma which is my daily driver and also our back road/off-road cruising truck, I don’t see taking it on a road trip ever lol. I know the newer Tacoma’s are a lot bigger in the front seat area. If Toyota built the tacoma’s With more rear leg room it would be doable. I can understand the want to go back to a basic truck considering the newer diesels need to be maintained, if I couldn’t work on my own truck I wouldn’t want a diesel and they all need to be deleted! They also make hella power!
