I used to use one of the Bulldog combo cable lock boxes, but with the third generation seats sitting so low, it does not completely fit under the front of the drivers seat. It sticks out a few inches. I recently switched to a PacSafe 3 liter travel safe: https://www.pacsafe.com/travel-gear/portable-safes/ Being a flexible bag, it fits entirely under the seat. I have the top handles right at the seat travel adjustment bar (which is where I attach the cable) so I can quickly grab it and pull it out from under the seat. I also have a better combo lock on the cable than came with the bag. Does the First Alert box illustrated above actually fit completely under the stock third generation front seat?

Yes. I have the OEM weather mats so I have to slide the seat forward to get the box over the lip, but the lip keeps it from sliding back also.

Looks great. Can you still use the USB chargers in the center console with this?

Hmm I think there's a cut out around the plug. I'd go out and check but the taco is a 1000 miles away right now. One thing to note is it's kinda small inside. My g26 fits fine but my g19 won't fit. It might if you stick it to the side with a magnet..

Center console is small. It will fit my mod .2 but not worth the cost of the vault for the size. Magnetic mount or my behind the back holster for driving. Small lock box under the seat if you so somewhere you can’t carry, although if it’s planned I just don’t carry that day.

I daily a Glock 17, before that a 1911. I work in IT so I carry a backpack daily and it would be no issue at all to keep my g17 in my backpack all day right under my desk. I like my company and don't want to get fired for any reason so I play it safe, plus the crime rate where I work is so low its almost a negative number.

    What Doc said.

I try to avoid places where I can't have it there. During my last interview, I asked about the company's stance on 2a. LOL

I also use a locker down safe.

There is a cutout for the 12-Volt plug, and my sig 229 (in a holster) fits diagonally in it. I normally only put my carry gun it it when I need to leave it in the truck for whatever reason, its normally on my person.

I don't leave it in the truck and certainly wouldn't advertise it here on TW.

After seeing this, and I thought someone said something about one at Harbor frieght, I decided to look into these. For the price this makes the most sense. Enough of deterrent that most thieves won’t waste their time. Anytime I would use it would be gorna short time in a place where I’m not allowed to carry. I think I’m going to get one.

That has been my beef with these. I installed one in a F150. The console is 3 times the size so in one of those they make more sense. Tacoma console is tiny, and I would lose my tray storage I bought, and won’t be able to store much in there with my pistol. Plus at almost $300, for the size it’s hard for me to justify that much money imo. I mean it’s worth it but when you have cheaper alternatives, that are just as secure, it’s hard for me to pull the trigger.
Sometimes you have no choice. Unless you want to risk illegally carrying and losing your permit to carry and maybe your guns...no thanks

The whole point, is not necessarily the leaving it. I realize you have to sometimes. The point was the advertising it on TW. I find it good to keep that kind of info private. No Stickers on the truck to advertise either.

Mine stays on my hip. If I were to need to leave it in the truck for whatever reason, I would agree with @Garyji . It is secured in a safe yet undisclosed place. However I will say that Locker Down safe looks pretty cool except for the price.

I agree, I see the people with gun stickers on their vehicles advertising they have firearms and to come steal them.
But if someone comes on to this site, tracks down my truck, breaks into my safe without me seeing them I would just give it to them, because they deserve it.
