Correct. I've owned the Vulcan welder for a year now. No issues so far. I've done plenty of stuflf on my truck with it. From welding light tabs to welding spring perches to re designing my front bumper. The machine has payed itself long time ago. I still can justify spending over 1k for a name brand. Here are some more shots from last night fun.

Hey everyone. I decided a few months ago that I wanted to use the remainder of my GI Bill and learn how to properly weld. So I’ve been going to a vocational school for the last couple of months. I could never see me welding for a living but I do enjoy building things. I want to build a small fabrication shop in my garage and just see where that takes me. I’ve got some room, equipment, tools and material for a few projects. I’m probably gonna have a few questions for some of you. Looking forward to this.

Something you can get parts for locally. So of the 3, vulcan. But eastwood uses consumables that are available at AirGas. Id look into them.

Sorry to intrude. I see this thread show up regularly, but I've never looked through it because I have 0 skills in this area. So I aplogize if this info has been already posted.

I do want to say I admire the work of good welders and fabricators. But I also wanted to leave you some chuckles. Or maybe 'what not to do'? Anyway............

What are your opinions on going from a 6/10 to 10/14 toothed blade on my band saw? My blade just snapped in half and the manufacturer is sending me a new one but told me I should go to the 10/14 blade. I’m cutting primarily square/rectangle tubing from 11ga to .250 mild steel with some flat stock/angle.

I think the more teeth per inch seem to be able tolorate the occasional hard spots in the iron. This is just my opinion.

It has been a few years I gotta look what I use

I use 14 TPI I cut pretty much the same type of material .

Then it is a Carolina Tool HD-10 I had since 1989

Loose or vibrating work piece can snap blades .

Your not cutting through rust or welds ??

Just What kind of saw are you talking about ??

I have never used the variable teeth blades

Craig, I ussumed the 1st number was blade pitch.

I assumed it was stationary band saw of some sort as well.

One of those things it is pitch but because of the pitch it changes the Teeth Per Inch as well .

    I need more Coffee!!

the fewer the teeth fast rough cut more TPI slower smooth cut it is said to help cut down vibration and chattering .

I think I might have some 10/14 on my Portaband that has lived in the case for a few years

6ABC5563-537C-442E-A492-B06926BA93AA.jpg It’s a brand new Jet 7 x 12 712D. Work was secure, no rust or cutting welds. I believe the variable TPI is to keep three teeth on the work at all time, across a variety of different metals and thicknesses. I don’t feel the machine was set up right, meaning it’s still not. The front and rear guide bearings aren’t always turning with the saw blade. I took some video prior to the blade snapping, it’s never sounded right. I’m out of commission until the new blade comes in. Jet customer support is amazing. Jet rep feels it was a bad weld on the blade but I’m concerned the tracking is off. This is a screen shot from a video I took. The blade is rotating but that front guide bearing isn’t.CA33E902-D0A3-4535-BE7A-7CE0923530AC.jpg

If the tracking is off it will sure put tension on the blade.

It should tell you in your manual how to adjust the blade guides.

I buy the cheapest spray lube I can and spray on the blade guides when I use the saw in my case it can sit a week or far longer between uses.

Being it is just me for the most my blades last very long I still have 2 spare blades never fails break one at the worst time.

As a Christmas present I get to pick up a new budget friendly, gas capable welder. Decided I’m going to give harbor freights new titanium one a shot. Pretty new so not many reviews, but so far I’ve read all positive. Will buy an extended warranty just in case. Excited to not use this Amazon flux core piece of shit anymore
