The cellular can still lock the keys in from my tests, but this could change st any time so always do a door check with your hands. But do remember that a phone that dies or loses cellular signal due to a service provider going down, you’re at mercy of those elements. If someone breaks in, you just GAVE them your vehicle...not sure how I feel about this but also, it’s not necessarily the cellular service provider they can go down, the app is also privately networked, there are times the app loses connectivity due to server issues. You’re risking a lot here by doing this, not advised.

Undo it and reseat it. Normal at times but easy fix! Turn the wheel after reseating and putting the two steering column screws back in!

I have a 2016 push-to-start Tacoma with auto headlights and received my remote start with 4G service on 12/22, right in time before Christmas.

Installation is pretty straight forward. Total it took me about 25 minutes. The hardest part was trying to get the white tabs on the kick panel to line back up and pop in lol.

I followed the first video provided to install the remote start first and testing that out. Worked great.

Moving on to the cell phone module, I copied the illustration provided by N2 and was able to program it easily.

After setting up the truck in the app, you will have to release to get it out of test mode. That is easily done by tapping the 3 lines on the top left > My garage > then next to your vehicle on the right, there is a release option. Add the car again and it should be out of test mode.

Initially, there was a lag when pressing the options on your phone. This is where Jimmy mentioned the updates.

After waiting about 5-10 minutes, the functions on the phone worked fairly quickly. As for the display to show if the car is locked or unlocked, there is a small lag. Maybe over time, it will get better.

Overall, it does what it is intended to do. Install is fairly easy and reversible.

***Heads up for people who uses HID for their fog lights***

The fogs do flash when using the remote start and also flashes when locking the door via the app. I have HID fogs installed and don't see them lasting long if they are continuously firing up in rapid succession. I ended up swapping back to stock bulbs for peace of mind.

I do have HIDs installed for my low beams but using the remote start will not fire the low beams in auto mode. Only the fogs will come on.

Another thing is if your lights are in auto mode while driving and you press the lock button on your app, the door will "lock" and your lights will turn off. You shouldn't be using the app while driving anyways. You should use the lock controls on the actual door. I was just playing around and noticed this.

Had a quick question for Jimmy and texted him late at night. He called me on a holiday weekend, answered my question, and wished me a Merry Christmas.

Great guy and great customer service.

I will do a follow up review after a few months.

Just got my remote start for Christmas and already installed. Automatic H-key. Works perfect. I was wondering about my Meso ECT mod working, but it comes on as soon as I turn the key to the on position, so it works seamlessly with the remote start.

A little assistance needed if anyone has an idea for me. I received my remote start yesterday and trying to install before going to family’s house for dinner.

I figure @jayrobot is busy with family and maybe someone else is perusing the forums looking to help a not-so-mechanically inclined person out.

Everything was going beautifully until I went to hook up to the Fortin Evo all module. I keep the button held down while plugging in the small black connector (nothing else is/or ever was plugged into the Fortin module) but the light just shows up red and never changes no matter how long I keep the button held.

    Any ideas?

    Wait.

You need to unhook everything and once you plug the main harness while button is depressed and the unit it should start the cycle of colors, once it’s blue and red you release button, you can unplug for a few seconds for it to try again

I just unhooked everything and reconnected the connector B and related connection and the connection under the steering column. Then I went to connect the small black connector to the Fortin module and still just red. Doesnt cycle through anything at all. And as a quick note- nothing else is connected to the Fortin module as I did this.

Hmmm, I just did my Hkey and added smart module

The Hkey I followed the video in post 498 to the letter and it worked on the first run, the 4G module took me a few minutes due to me only watching the video and not looking at the paper instruction to get out of test mode, but that was quickly resolved, total time was 45mins for everything.

If you are push to start, I’m gonna not be able to offer any technical advice

Thanks for trying though! I appreciate it. I haven’t made it through the 3 button remote start yet, hopefully once I’m past this the smart module will be smooth sailing.

I’m not sure how different the MT and AT H-key installs are, but for my MT I had trouble with the programming until I had a good ground. Worth double checking if you’ve got things that need to be grounded

@jayrobot just wanted to say merry Christmas and thank you so much for getting me everything literally the day before Christmas! Haha.

After following this thread for awhile, I pretty much ignored all of the paper instuctions and did exactly what was in the videos, the remote start went in without a hitch and I prob could have done it in under 15 mins except I wanted to make sure I had it exactly right and kept rewinding the video to make sure I didn’t miss any steps. The 4G module, the only thing the video doesn’t explain was setting up the mycar app and taking it out of test mode, but luckily I just searched this thread to refer back to the paper instruction which I did and out of test mode I got! Total time for a full running system with 4g, 45 mins!

Also, my TPMS wire literally had no slack and no give. It looked different from the videos where it was bundled with the factory felting cover vs tape I saw others had, even have peeling some back, that TPMS wire wouldn’t give an inch, so much so that I almost added more line in order for it to reach your supplied connector. I ended up making it work, but I might go back and add a little extra bit of cable because it’s tight now.

I’ve prob remote started it about 14 times now hahaha. I can’t wait to remote start tomorrow morning and have a nice toasty cab before I get on the road in the wee hours!

I have one question. In the video H-key auto, it says that the parking lights will come on when remote started. Mine do not. But I always turn my lights to the off position. Are they supposed to come on even though I turn them off when I park the truck? I just want to make sure everything is right.

Try it both ways. Text me you results. You’ve been PMed my personal cell. It’s ok if it’s Christmas guys...I’m silently lurking here n there when I can, and help when I can today. If you need help, reach out. If I can I will, you're not bothering me and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. I just have to hide from my wife if I do. So if I don’t respond, I’m with family.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS

I wanted to wish all of a Merry Christmas from myself on behalf of N2 Designs. You guys are a phenomenal group of people and I am blessed to have received such love and support from you all. I know you have other, (much more expensive options out there hahah) but you all rolled with me, and for the most part, no one has really regretted it, and that means a lot. Here is to you all!

Still going at it...yes I know it’s Christmas but just an announcement, stuff is still going on tomorrow (orders without smart modules or RF kit). That includes orders received Christmas Eve and Christmas.

    F2D8B823-EA64-4365-BCCF-5CC9DC739CAE.jpg

And due to common feed back, I’ve revised the TPMS cable termination to make it easier going forward. Here is Version 2:

More slack, independent clamp terminal connectors:
