I'd say the ST Maxx is a perfect on/off road tire.......

only if they made a lighter C rated in 16"

5 days in and a couple hundred miles. 2 snow events. These are as expected great tires in the snow and a MONSTER diffeerence to the OR OEM tires. I did slip a little on a few ice patches, but those were situations where anything but spiked tires would have slipped.

Ride is still great no pulling. There IS a vibration when driving the first couple miles. It's not major. It's not like a nobby tire thing. Here's what I think is happening. The tread is hard, but there is always some sponginess built into tire tread. It seems to be kind of a memory foam type of thing. When you are parked, your heavy vehicle is causing impressions in the part of the tread bearing the most weight. As you drive the impression subsides, and the even pressure on the tires evens everything out. Within a couple miles everything is smoothe.

    And there's this...
One other event I just had pulling out of a Mobile station last night. We have those concrete drainage dips everywhere around here. I was pulling out quick as traffic was coming. As I hit it with a sharp right turn I felt my front driver side dip down which is something I've never felt before. I'm not sure if it was the OR suspension responding to the hit on the drainage "bump", or if the tire's sidewall gave in a bit? If anyone has experienced this and knows what it is, please let me know. The Maxx's are set at 35 psi, so it doesn't seem like they should be giving anything like that. It felt like a bounce, and I might have heard the tire hit the wheel well inner panel but I can't be sure. So it could be either, but I'm inclined to think it's the suspension responding to the different angle the weight of the truck is taking on corners. Skinnier tires, 1.? higher stance, etc...

Finally tested my 255/86-16s at Hidden Falls this past weekend. It was super wet/muddy and I didn't get stuck once! Bad ass tire!

ST Maxx's continuing to impress. Did great in compact snow, ice, and the deeper stuff this weekend.

Went and played in some pretty deep snow and slush. Didn’t air down and needless to say, I got stuck.

did you bring a shovel? some gritty dirt from the forest will help. Also dig out any snow that you maybe hung up on from underneath the truck.

A guy that was following behind me had a shovel and it didn’t take much to dig the snow out from under the tires and see pavement.

Yeah, basic recovery gear, is a pair of work gloves, spear point shovel, and a saw. You'll use that way more than a winch.

All low with big tires - I think it looks like a Hotwheels toy.

Sick Truck Dude! What a diff. I was looking into those wheels for my 17. Mind if i ask what offset and B/S they are? I was looking into the -12 offset with a B/S of 4.53....

Some stick on chrome from pep boys
Finally broke down and pulled the Hutchinson Rock Monster wheels with the 315/70/17 S/T Maxx and swapped in some rare OEM 16” 70 Series LandCruiser wheels with 255/85/16 S/T Maxx. Allot better throttle response on the old Tojo going from a 116lb wheel set per corner to a sub 50lb wheel set per corner.

    5A2DDDF6-5D62-4965-A42B-A1B059AE58F4.jpg

Ordered a set of the Method 701 wheels in 16” and will grab a set of 35” S/T Maxx in 16” for those as well and then pull and list the other five 17” Hutchinson’s off of the Tacoma.

Dead set on staying with the S/T Maxx tires until Cooper stops making them.
