Yes I did. Lots of different trailer with weight between 1000 and 5000 lbs. which is very light. And the tacoma cant handle it.

6cyl. Big difference in mpg at 70 vs 80.

I don't have the truck anymore. Traded it after two months because of a bad diff howl. The tsb didn't fix it and Toyota said there wasn't anything else they could do at the time. I'd go back to one in the future if I'm confident the diff howl was eliminated. But I'm afraid to take a chance right now.

If you need to tow the Kubota the Tacoma won’t do it. 6500lbs is the max I believe in any trim and some are less (with tow pkg of course). As long as the Sequoia will you have things covered IF you ever need to. Beyond that the Tacoma sounds like a good option to consider. Your finances and depreciation seem to be something you are ready to handle without losing any sleep.

At this point I would say take you time and test drive any combination you think appeals to you. You aren’t in a must deal today situation so hit a few dealers and put some miles on their Tacoma’s. Some complain about this or that and others can’t understand what the commotion is about. Personally I have very few issues until I tow which doesn’t seem to be something you will have to worry about.

I had a 2016 f250 extended cab long bed on 35's. Awesome truck but a pain in the ass to drive daily and park. Not to mention it really limited my dirt road explorations being so big and heavy. Sold it to my dad, got myself a 2016 taco trd and love it. Sometimes I miss having the big rig and bed space, but overall the Tacoma is far more fun and practical. It drives like a car, hauls like a truck, and offroads like a jeep. Can't go wrong.

I would just keep the super duty and drive it until the wheels fall off since it’s almost paid off. More towing capacity and especially more payload for an RTT and other crap that adds up the weight if you’re wanting to overland. If you’re worried about longevity, just tune and delete the emissions on that diesel and don’t look back.

The tractor is over the max capacity of the sequoia though just FYI if it does weigh 8000lbs.

I mean the dealers here don't have one yet, and at the last auto show it was "on display" but set back and roped off from the rest of the Ford vehicles, no one was allowed to touch it. People were pissed off.

If you had 3.31s, you could do 8200. 3.55s, 9700. That’s the regular tow package. So I was off, but not by a whole lot.

No such thing. If you have the towing package you have all the coolers. Not sure what year your truck was. The older body style the only model not rated to Atleast 9,400 lbs was the limited. It was 7,400 lbs with the 3.55 gears

The current body style, all the models are rated for Atleast 10,700 lbs (see below). So perhaps you had the 3.5 non ecoboost?

This is for 2011 MY. My new F-150 is a max tow ecoboost, which falls under the 12k capacity. Granted, when I’m towing something that heavy, I grab the 18 250.

I have a 18 OR Tacoma nice truck but just to small for me and my family. Looking to trade it in down the road for a Tundra. Me and my family need more room.

I was under the impression the max tow package is Fords towing package. Looks like some might of came with a hitch and not have the coolers. I thought all models that had a hitch had the coolers.

Still that’s like buying a Tacoma without a towing package and then adding a hitch and bitching that you can only tow ~3000 lbs. if you know you’ll need to be towing spend the extra $800-1k and get a towing package with your truck.

I can’t tell you how many times I installed hitches and 7 pin wiring and brake controllers on explorers/escapes because people thought or the salesmen told them it will tow their boat/enclosed landscape trailer. Then to have to take it over and have our service department order all the coolers afterwards because I would ask them what they are towing and they would tell me. Then I would tell them that they wouldn’t be able to tow what they needed and they would flip shit. Some of it was their own fault and some the sales associate. Only 1 time did I have that happen with a F150. It was a used one (regular 3.5) with no tow package or hitch. Guy ended up returning the truck and they got him into another one (ecoboost) with the factory tow package.

If it has the hitch, it’s got the trans cooler. The max tow comes with a class 5 hitch and something else, not sure off the top of my head. I think it’s the hitch, 3.55s and something else.

They are class 4. Class 5 are 2 1/2” opening. The standard hitch is probably just a class 3 then. If it comes with the transcooler than the additional cooler in the tow package would be the oil cooler. I remember some models of the explorers only having to add one of the other, couldn’t remember exactly which. I think they might of had the tranny cooler but needed the oil cooler.

Just looking at the 2013 fx4 I had. So mine didn’t have the Max tow package because it didn’t have the tow mirrors. But I had the 402A luxury package. So I had the factory brake controller but not sure what class hitch. I thought it was a class 4, maybe not. Looks like they get the higher tow capicity with a bigger radiator and aux trans cooler. Ford has so many options when it comes to their trucks. Anyways my max rated capicity would of been 9600 lbs with the 3.55 gears. Not sure if his truck setup but I still think it would of been higher than what he was claiming. Even if not his taco assuming has the tow package. Without that on his taco it’s only rated around half that weight. So the comparison between the trucks really wouldn’t of been fair. Biggest thing I ever towed was a 18’ heavy duty car hauler trailer loaded with a about 5k worth of landscape blocks. Probably was around 8k loaded. Pulled it like butter. Only thing I towed with my Tacoma was my Snap on tool box home from my old job. Rented a uhaul 5x8’ trailer with a gate. Probably was around 3k lbs. the Tacoma didn’t pull that half as easy as my f150 did with that car hauler and landscape blocks.

I’m not gonna read through all the responses but I’ll give you my personal senecio.

    1) I had a 2010 Tacoma Offroad
    2) traded it for a 2011 Ram 2500 Powerwagon
    3) traded that for a 2012 2500 Cummins
    4) traded back to a 2015 2500 Powerwagon
    5) I’m back to a 2017 Tacoma Offroad.

If you want to haul or tow keep the big truck, if you want to Offroad and only drive get the Tacoma.

If you’re looking to save fuel don’t bother. Your big truck will be almost the same. The Tacoma is nice... but it’s not as comfortable to drive or nearly as powerful as the big trucks. I ended up with a car that is better to drive and commute in and I only take the truck out to explore.

Tacoma’s are nice vehicles, but they aren’t much fun to drive and they don’t get good gas mileage. What they are is small and nimble Offroad and in parking lots at the mall.

To be honest I miss my full size truck unless I’m on a very small trail.

I don't have a clue why you say that. I've had absolutely no issues. The truck is set up properly with the right hitch and sits perfectly level. I tow @ 65 to 70mph with no handling issues and run the truck in 5th gear with cruise on. MPG averages 13-15 while towing and 21-23 not towing.
