Can confirm. I have bolt on sliders and I would never go with weld on. Very modular

I'm asking because there is a cost savings for weld on. I do prefer bolt on.

Buy a welder and steel and make them and weld them on. I bet it’ll be cheaper

Or a diy set, trailgear makes some but you’ve got a trail limo, not sure who would make sliders that long

I don't have a lot of free time and something like that for me, because of lack of experience, would take months to put together and then the frustration of trying to get it right would just get me pissed off. It's less headache to buy and bolt on. I'm looking to get Mobtown sliders.

I have Mobtown Bolt-on sliders. Love 'em.
I've lifted the whole truck with them on a hoist and "shook it", can confirm that their bolt-ons are just as strong or stronger than weld-ons.
If you set the sliders on Milk crates when installing it's real easy to install yourself. Easier than a jack and jackstands or a buddy holding them.

The only thing I have heard about bolt on is if you don't periodically remove them to clean and coat the part that touches the frame they can start to rust and speed how the frame rusts .

Just stuff I've seen on here which is why I'll be removing mine come spring to check it out

Gotcha. Weld on aren’t terrible, just the maintence is on your back to paint and sand. Also if you were to damage a tube (highly unlikely but just the same) all the work would have to be done on the truck.

I think it took three to fours to install. At the time of installation I had it done. Think it was $150-$200.

The 2nd gen frame rails, aft of the transmission crossmember, are double-walled C-channel profile. Weld-on sliders would attach to only the outer wall. In extreme cases, there could be tearing - haven't seen it with sliders but have seen it with spring hangers. The bolts for bolt-on sliders go through both walls for full strength. Spray the inside of the flanges with undercoating to eliminate air gaps and seal out moisture.

Some bolt-on slider designs are transferable to turd gens with little or no modification. Something I unfortunately had to research the last few days...

I have bolt on sliders that I bought from Ttaco. They came off a 3rd gen and only 1 hole lines up with my 2nd gen factory holes.
My GF doesn't like the mud and salt that collects on them, so I take them off for the winter. Very convenient that way. I just bolt 'em on for runs.
