    That’s where I’m at now..

I never wanted two tanks in the garage for weekend welding so I always pictured fluxcore wire and a tank of argon for aluminum would cover my basis. But now I feel I’m making it harder on myself welding with fluxcore in the garage, all doors closed with exhaust fan on. Bout to bite the bullet and get a second tank. I recently swapped the tank given to me with the Lincoln power mig 300 for the argon tank, $50 charge. Got a price on a second tank with fill at $300.

Maybe turn the heat up? I havent used flux in a 220 welder before only the 110 welders. the flux core works fine for me but Ive gotten the heat setting to what I really need it to be vs what the welder says. your beads look great btw. but if you are having trouble seeing through all the spatter id say enough prep was not done or your puddle isnt getting hot enough

@Wheelspinner pointed me in this helmet direction when I got my stick welder last year. It’s been good to me, I like it. And just got a second one with the purchase of the miller for a holiday deal.

At this point I am looking to make things easy and set myself up for success... I’m rebuilding my garage to a shop and don’t plan on welding outside of it. I don’t wanna be the guy anymore welding on the garage floor with an improper setup. I wanna be sitting at a weld table migging with a gas setup. That’s my plan.

Bite the bullet. Flux core sucks.
Now .045 flux core with shielding gas is a whole nother animal. Dual shield is not something I will ever need to do however

Those beads are definitely crowned. Either more heat or less wire speed.

I have the 60v Dewalt Flexvolt which I like a lot on the trail and for my property. Don't use my 18" Echo anymore.

@EatSleepTacos has a 20v Dewalt that he uses on the trail

@JCjeeper has an 18v Milwaukee, that's a horrible red color.

Edit: @HolyHandGrenade uses a 18v 40v Ryobi which probably has the greatest bang for the buck for trail use.

That's a nice unit, but dang it takes up a lot of space.

Are all these people anticipating use or have they found themselves needing it.

An ax doesn’t need fuel.. :notsure:

I’ve paid my dues prior to carrying a chainsaw.

Same trip, two trees, no chainsaw.

Like @Wheelspinner said unless your going through the McKenzie trail it’s not super necessary. I mostly carry my chainsaw to buck up dead wood for camp fires.

In the 5 years of Pine's exploration, I've never needed a saw staying on established legal trails. Though I don't cut down tree's to protect my paint either. Really wondering whether it was really necessary...

Leave no trace means not cutting down trees
