I have looked at the 2019 Tacoma TRD OR and I am basing my price on the 2018 Invoice/MSRP threads. According to the 2018 thread the 2018 TRD OR are Invoice = $33465 and MSRP = $36115.
However the OR is an additional $2336 plus a host of other costs. So for example do I add the Invoice + OR to come to $35801?
When you see the list Invoice of $33465 does that include the OR package?
The reason for asking is because my local Toyota dealer has a TRD OR for $37510 and Elite price is 34517. With this reduction it is nearly 8% off. It appears they are right on near 10% off but of course they are basing their price on the $37510 which appears to me to be way too much.
Not all that sure of the list of stuff they list with invoice but for $35517 this seems to be a pretty good deal.
My reason for considering this is I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma base model (SR5 and AC) and had a new frame put on a couple months ago. With nearly 160k miles I could keep this for now but it is nearly 13 years old now or next year. It is kind of beat up but not too bad for a "no payment truck". Thinking this through on what the real value is for these trucks and I understand they need to have money to run the dealership so I am ok with that. But I hate the thought of them ripping me off lol. What would me truck be worth on a trade in? If sold as a private party what is the value? I have read it being $5,500 but I doubt I would get this for a 2006 and a new frame?

Thanks...and BTW I am in Northern VA...this will be quite different for me with the 3.5L motor compared to the 4.0 motor.

Sounds about right. Most vehicles have add on the add to the price of the base. When I bought my 17 the tech package was 2 to 3 grand more if I remember right. All the little up charges for things can add up.

Sorry I got the numbers incorrect. The Elite price is $34517 and their payment is for 84 months lol...with a high interest rate. Obviously I would get better rate with a local CU. But the my daughter is going to college next fall with a son following 2 years later too! I could pay off my CC and then have payment go towards this TRD next year. Not sure what the difference will be for the TRD 2020 when they come out next year etc. Too much thinking on my mind but do you think this Elite price of $34517 a good deal?

Hey miner...yea the Tech package will add up. Obviously everything adds up to a Toyota. I cannot seem to find anything on the Tech package. This the interior package right? I don't think I see that in the list but assume a Tacoma TRD with Tech package will be slightly more. Even though at $37517 I thought to have the Tech package I would think so. I have been out of the Tacoma buying for 10 years...that is how long I have owned my 2006 Tacoma AC 4x4 base so I tried to follow the threads of others and its shall I say a mess lol. But I am going off invoice so this area may be a little off but that little off is o with me. It is the $3k off that concerns me :)

I would have to look at the package but for reference mine with all options was just over 36500 with the dealer discount and rebates so sounds about right. Don’t think much will change with the 2020 models but you never know.

No, the invoice for the TRD OR Short bed without any options is 33465. Any additional items like mud flaps, steps or packages like Tech and Premium would be added to the 33465. But if you wanted an OR without anything else the invoice is 33465.

There are a couple things to consider here.

Financing for 84 months is usually not a good idea. You may end up spending thousands in interest. Of course it’s divided into smaller payments, but you’re paying quite a bit to borrow money with a term that long.

Would it make more sense to buy an older/cheaper Tacoma? That’s something you have to decide. When you spend 20k on an older Tacoma, you are getting 20k worth of truck. If you have to finance at 84 months and end up paying 40k for a 35k truck, you overpay. But that’s just the conservative way of looking at it.

As far as 35k price goes for that truck. I paid less than that (pre-TTL fees) for a fully loaded 2018 TRD OR DCLB (tech+premium). I did buy at the end of the year as 2019s were rolling in, so I got a good deal.

If you can find a leftover 2018 model, you will get the biggest bargain on that truck. For the 2019 model year only a few things have changed (new color offered and the REMOVAL of bedside cubbies). I would rather get a 2018 than a 2019, even if offered at the same price. I am going to use my bedside cubby for an air compressor.

Thanks Thegeneral. I see what you mean but I guess I would need to see what options were beneficial. Looking at two other dealers...it seem many of the Tacomas do not do not include the Tech package...at least they have chrome bumpers. This is becoming more clear now. More negotiating power lol.

A 2006 Tacoma V6 4x4 in working order is worth more than $5,500. I would recommend against trading it in. Sell into private party and you will benefit more.

If you live in a state where trade ins count against taxed totals, then it may be more worth it. But even in that scenario, $5500 would not be worth it.

A lot of people are looking for “good bones” when buying a truck. Especially one they are buying to modify. If you are timely with maintenance you should be able to sell it quite easily. In addition, a new frame will ease most concerns people have about buying a second gen Tacoma.

Check out the member classifieds for second gens here and price accordingly.

Yes I know a 84 month payment plan is cheaper which is why they tout this. But for customers who have a high FICO score I want something like 4 years or so and this is what I will base my offer on.
I rather not consider the used trucks as they are sl close to a new one that it is silly to get a used truck that is only 2 years old and have 30k miles on it and selling for like $30k.
I agree that the 2018 models are the way to go but again the 2018 models are like $1.5k less than the 2019...not a real deal IMO. However I my be able to offer something less for it sitting on the floor.
I did not realize about this bedside cubbies but of course the paint scheme changes yearly.

In my opinion, a 2018 for 1.5k less is a much better deal than a 2019. They are the same truck. There are negligible differences, so why not take the cheaper truck? And yes you will have more leeway in price on the 2018 too. It is marketed for 1.5k less than the 2019, but in reality you can get that number even lower.

If you must have the newest model, I can understand that. But this was a “carryover” model year with no real changes. If anything, I think the 2018 is better than the 2019.

Unless of course you want Cavalry Blue. Then stick with a 2019.

Nope...don't want Calvary Blue lol. I like those grey trucks but whites can do also.
The number I threw out at $1.5k is just a number but they are real close for all purposes. I did a cursory look at 2018 and not many left but I see Toyota is offering 1.9% on these 2018 so that itself is nearly good compared to the CU of 3.9%.
I am curious on the 2018 models...they need to be updated with Toyota recommend TLS? This is for the gears continuing to search? Should this be requested?
After thinking it over...that may be the wise decision to go since I avg 10k miles a year but wanting to get out of this old truck.
And by the way the $5,500 I threw out for my truck is from KBB and I know the dealers will look at this so that is why I threw it out. But to be honest with you...its working so why get a new truck? That is if I can get a good deal lol.

You can get more off, they want to sell it before the end of the year so they will discount it more. I paid 32,900 for the same truck without tech or premium. Mine had mudflaps, sill protectors, tonneau cover, and all weather mats. I told them I didn’t want those accessories so I wouldn’t pay for it, and we settled at 32900. It helped that the 19s were hitting lots and that specific truck had been sitting for 4 months on their lot, the longer they sit the more it cost the dealer so they are willing to work on the price more to move it off the lot. Keep working, it should be a sub 33k deal before tax and fees.

I just got an 18 DCOR, sticker was 39k and with rebates we got it for 34k, lots of extras like the Predator bars, full mud flaps, all weather floor liners, factory bed mat, paint protection film, navigation. We were happy with the price.

    I've always had white Toyota trucks. 1986 4Runner, 1998 4Runner, 2002 4Runner, 2002 Tacoma SR5, 2006 Tacoma TRD, 2007 Tacoma TRD, and now a 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport.

All in white except the 2002 Tacoma.

Calvary Blue REALLY tore at me when I saw it at the dealership.

    I still bought white.

I am in Northern VA...right inside Manassas/Bristow/Haymarket. I have not visited dealerships yet but they are all around me. Miller Toyota is the closest but there are others where I work in Chantilly, VA. I believe those dealerships want you to sit for hours and haggle. For me I am willing to pay X amount...and as I said I will give them enough to pay their bills. If they want to make lots of money they will have to work to sell every car. I cannot worry about the other cars...just wish I had saved up some money. But I have money in my car lol.

Resque: hard to say with all of those options but after looking around I see one other thing. Those 2018 models are 1.9% for up to 5 years so that is much less than the CU. Something to look out for. But I think if you overpaid for a 2018 then they are making more money. In my area the 2018 are essentially the same as 2019 lol. It would be ok for me except if I was going to pay the same price literally...might as well get the 2019. I emailed a dealer to see what is their best price for the 2018 noting that they are far away from the invoice.

And yeah I had two white cars... a truck (this one) and another car. I am kinda partial to greyish color but if the price is right I will take another white truck. This is my second truck...first one was a 1986 Toyota Truck (pre-Tacoma) and became a rust bucket eventually, and this one.

Oh okay! I'm in Norfolk area. I made the same mistake too of not saving up enough money. You can't go wrong with either, but my vote would be for the 2018
