I'm looking for recommendations for a strip of LED lights to go above the rear bumper and under the tailgate. Ideally, with turn signal built in and one that plugs into either the blade or round hitch plug.

I found this thread (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rear-led-amber-light-strip-for-turn-signals.333191/), but looking for something a little more ... plug 'n play!

This is close to what I'm looking for, but looking for input.
    https://www.amazon.com/OPT7-Redline-LED-Tailgate-Light/dp/B00Z8TGYR6/

Same manufacturer, but has 3 rows with yellow turn signals. Don't know if it'd fit though.
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HUJY0AO/ref=psdc_15730331_t2_B00Z8TGYR6?th=1

Do I need to stick with 48" or could I go with 60" without it looking lame?

Just a heads up, the area to put a tailgate light bar is only 57” so a 60” won’t work. Ever.

I have the Opt7 and love it 48"

The leds are not covered by some cheap plastic case they are embedded in epoxy of some sort.. good quality

Let me clarify.. I have the 2nd one one your list

How many rows of lights do you have? Opt7 has 1, 2, and 3. Think there's even a 4 row option.

I have 3, with amber turns.. Make sure when you mount it, it clears the tailgate when shut.

From the web site, it plugs into the flat 4 pin plug for your trailer lights. Think I'll get the 3 row with amber turn 48" from Amazon! Thanks Bishop!

....any suggestions for 3rd light replacements? I've seen a few on here, but they all appear to be only red. I have red/white with an off/on switch in the cab.

He's out of stock for map/dome. :angrygirl: There's supposedly a new dome version. Been watching that thread daily, but it's like telling someone the check's in the mail. You get all excited and then wait...and wait...and wait! I saw his 3rd light mods, but the bulbs for those suckers are expensive (think I saw them at about $50 per).

Just read on Amazon for the Opt7 48" triple row....

If you have any combination of a Rear Camera, Rear Parking Sensor, and/or Trailer Tow Assist but do not have a Blind Spot Sensor then you need the TRIPLE ROW REAR SENSOR 4-PIN MODULE (sold seperately on AMZ).
If you plan on hardwiring the TRIPLE ROW (recommended) then you do not need the module. If you have a BLIS or Blind Spot Detection you must hardwire the tailgate directly to your tail lights

Maybe I don't want this then. Does the BLIS cause a delay, hence the hardwiring?

Saw this set of BEATTO lights, but no reviews... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HF13L9G.

I may just end up with this one from Putco even thought it's 2x as much.. https://www.amazon.com/Putco-91009-48-Blade-Tailgate-Light/dp/B01I626KWA/

Guess I need to find out about the hardwiring first though. Suggestions?

I wonder why? It's not like the rear sonars disable when a trailer is plugged in, when I'm backing a trailer my park sensor screams at me until I remember to turn it off.

Hardwiring to the taillights is easy peasy, and is not nearly as ugly as having a plug dangling out of your rear end, in my humble opinion. I did a self adhesive red led bar to serve as the 3rd brake on my softopper, and used a pair of "vampire" style wire taps to connect it to the left tail. It took me around 10 minutes to fish the wire from topper to under the fender and complete the splice.

The year shouldn’t matter, same wiring regardless on the trailer pins. I was just hoping to hide the plug entirely behind the bumper

Any pics of the LED bar installed? I want to add a third brake light to my softopper.
