Alabama thread!

So planning a little camping riding trip not this weekend, but the next. Unsure about going to morris mountain at the moment.

Just trying to think of somewhere to try.

I don't mind wheeling alone, just means I'll stick more to the "green" trails.

 

my biggest gift was a dewalt leaf blower. damn tress around the house need to be leafblown daily I'm used to living in a pasture.

Morning fellas. Wife hooked me up with a new Columbia jacket and a bunch of gift cards. Dad hooked me up with an Amazon Echo plus and an Echo dot for the wife so my house is "connected" now. Still have a few odds and ends to gather up but I must say Alexa is pretty convenient for both me and the guvment to listen in, haha. Got the wife a new Ipad and IPhone since all these new baby apps work better with Apple crap. All in all we had a great Christmas! Hope everyone did as well.

 

Sure will, I have been wanting them.

 

I'm just ready to start filming with my gopro. We may be going to the morris mountain thing simple for camping and spectating and I'll get some good footage of @EddyRRT and @Acerwin if we do go.

 

so my mom already has 22k miles on her '18 since May.

 

So this weekend when I was replacing my rear output seal on my transfer case, I noticed a ridiculous amount of slop in my carrier bearing. That explains the vibrations I've been feeling in my foot at 50 MPH... Question is, should I go ahead and replace with a single piece driveshaft or replace the carrier bearing and its neighboring u-joint? Been eyeing the Tom Woods drive shafts for a while now and it would better suit me for when I finally get around to getting the rear end set up with the Chevy 63s.

 

Ran the Talladega Forest trails this past weekend. Had a great time. Shout out to @BamaTaco56 for the help on camp locations and trail conditions.

Overall an awesome trip. About 5 hours and 70 miles of trails. A lot of gravel service roads with some good off-camber sections on FSR 600-2 and mud in between. Highly recommend if anyone's in the area.

I'll definitely have to do more wheeling in Alabama.

 

Anybody need some 265/70/16s? These are in amazing shape and have tons of life left. Michelin Defender LTX. The wheels are junk. Came off my 4runner since I switched to 17s. All 4 for 250$.

 

I'd like to get down there sometime soon too. I'm wanting to reintroduce my wife to 4wheeling except this time without the anxiety. Lol.

 

That'd be fun. I think it would also do my wife some good to see other ladies out there as well. May wait until its a bit warmer before I can convince her to go camping with me. I'm sort of a minimalist when it comes to camping. A tarp and a hammock is a all I really need... and maybe a sleeping bag.

 

My only problem with an RTT is storage for it. Garage space is sort of a premium for me at the moment with it being my shop. Even a hoist for storing it up in the ceiling would be tough. Got storage already up there. Lol.

 

Absolutley. Amy is pushing me to go camping again but she's not the one that has to find time for maintenance lol. That's why we are thinking of going to morris mountain if I can get some maintenance done.

 

Keep it on the truck. Bed bars. I know a guy that can make them for you! His name is the same as yours, weirdly.

 

I use my truck as a truck quite a bit. Can't afford to lose an open bed.

honestly the covers are so good on them as long as you had it elevated off the ground you could keep it outside. It'd be no different than keeping it on the truck all the time.

I might consider that as an option... Just have to build a stand for it in the back yard... or a cart with wheels so I can move it on my own...
