I'd like to be able to lock the roof from the interior. There must be some way to construct a simple slide bolt or latch between the frame and the roof. When you close the roof you could simply reach under the frame and lock it and not need more keys. When stealth camping you could easily lock it from the interior.

Are you that worried that someone will walk up and try to pop the tent up while you're sleeping in the bed beneath it?

If you're stealth camping they probably won't know if you are inside. It's just away of feeling more secure and avoiding unpleasant situations. Also why have more locks and keys when a simple drop bolt would do the job and be more secure? With my truck, I can lock the tailgate with the fob. The ideal setup would be if the locked tailgate would also lock the tent.

Are you just going to lay in bed while someone dicks around with your truck if the top is locked? It's going to be an unpleasant encounter in either situation.

I don't have my GFC yet so I'm just visualizing the solution. It seems as though it would be easy for the factory to weld on a couple of tabs that could be used for an interior lock. I don't mind drilling as long as it doesn't hurt anything structurally. A factory solution would be the best so the powder coating wouldn't be disturbed.

I'm not saying it couldn't be a useful option, just saying you're still going to end up getting out of bed and dealing with a problem.

Hurt anything structurally? Not a single one of us is baja racing these campers and requires the space age/racing proven frame. They are way over built. I’d be more worried about the internals of the frame getting moisture in them and rusting then a hole to slide a bolt into.

When your getting the camper made ask them to weld on some tabs so you can bolt through it. Or drill a hole, spray the insides if the tubes with fluid film
Or something and call it a day.

Or even better don’t worry about someone opening the canopy, relax and enjoy life and don’t fret the small
    Stuff.

I'm with you, I really want a lock. I have 1-2 months before taking delivery so I'm trying to design a solution from pictures.

So what happens if there is a situation where you need to get out of the truck
In a hurry? Ie truck catches fire, earthquake, flash flood, zombie apocalypse, jason from friday the 13th is jamming his machete through the sides of the taco at ya and you want to escape only to be killed later?

You guys are just creating a worse situation, those will never happen you say , pfft i beg to differ on the jason situation. If anything this is the most realistic one ;), zombies, well Saline Valley was full of people fucked outta their minds on edibles, so i guess its a possibility there.

All kidding aside i really do not ser the need for the lock. Hang a sign up
On the back that says you sleep with a loded shotgun leave the door alone or you will meet the tuesday night doorman.

I agree, if I lived in Bozeman, Mt. But I don't live in a nice small town where everyone knows everyone and you can leave your front door unlock. I live in a big city where people steal packages off porches. A lock is not for everyone, but I think there is a market for one - I'm not alone. I like to carry recovery gear in my bed that's worth a lot of money.

I've fantasized about having removable signs on either side of the camper such as Joe's Pesticide Services, beware dangerous chemicals inside or similar.

You’ll be more likely to be pulled over for not having the proper license for “those dangerous chemicals”

With your luck living in WA a tweaker will break in thinking you might have chemicals they can use.

If a GFC isn't in your budget just make one. I spotted this at Kirkwood CA. Has plexiglass sides.

Don’t the latches on the panels lock? As does the tailgate.
