I had a stock Aisin put in as well last time, I guess it does fine as a stock clutch but the soft 'mashed potatoes' feel is what bothers me about it, doesn't grab with confidence especially offroad. As a result I don't expect it to last half as long as it would If it only saw street use but next time I'll opt for something more suited to the supercharger and wheeling

Thanks for the info. I can see how a heavier flywheel would help when I'm bogging down in deep snow, and need to downshift quickly. But at seven times the cost I don't see it being worth it for me. I think I will just get the $45 LUK flywheel from RockAuto.

I’m using a Harbor Freight cabinet with Glass Bead/Aluminum Oxide media. I’ve sandblasted hundreds of horns with this stuff and it’s my favorite media. It’s very fine, when I do bigger things like cast iron differentials or brackets I use heavy Garnet media.

Unless the piece you’re blasting has loose paint or rust, usually it’s better to sand it first or use some paint stripper. It’ll allow the paint to come off more easy.

I’m going to upgrade it soon, I’m looking at a bigger Snap-On or Econoline unit. If you don’t blast all the time the HF one will do.

Dust Collection is very important if you ever want to see what you’re working on. I have a Cyclonic Dust Separator plumbed in-Line with my Shop Vac.

Here was my cast iron front differential from a 1996 4Runner Limited. This was in my very first blast cabinet setup, an old 90’s harbor freight unit in a plastic tub.

Thanks-it’s seen better days. Has a cage, all the suspension stuff and a nitrous/Trick flow small block. But the short block is shot, actually about ready to put it up for sale.

Heavier flywheel is also gonna mean slower acceleration. My local carquest was able to turn my fly wheel and to the spec Marlin recommended. Probably the only thing they've done right for me the first time.

Really interested in how you have the blasting cabinet setup. Do you have a post on it somewhere that goes into details on how it's all setup?

Drove it about 150 miles today to pickup a new to me mtn bike. Felt good to drive for an extended distance for the first time in awhile. City driving sucks.

I pretty much explained it all in that post. Abrasive blasting is very simple, not much to it. Shoot me some questions if you want to learn more.

… dropped mine off today at the body shop for a recent highway ditching run-through incident. They told me the insurance company needs to take a looksie before repairs begin... what to expect?!? (first time in 21.5 yrs I have had anything like this happen) … any known threads on here of some driving theirs through a ditch I can look at?

What the hell happened to your airbag shutoff? BTW, if you’re want your CB to sit more flush with the trim cut the back of the ashtray trim out.

Previous owner It’s been like that since I baught it. The shutoff is shoved behind the panel. Been thinking about throwing a switch in place of it.
Cool. I’ll have to check that out.

You won’t be disappointed. Putting the two together is shocking. The stocker is like tissue paper compared to the Gear Tech ones.

We had some leftover pond liner from when we had it built, and I compared the two. The Gear Tech liner was actually thicker than the pond liner our contractor used.
