You clearly don't know how a stiff (strong) sidewall negatively impacts traction in very low pressure situations like sand or snow where you want it to "belt out", not to mention extremely jagged and rocks where you have to wrap and conform to the shape.

Personally I'd prefer a lighter load-range tire with lighter vehicles. Ran a LR-E KO2 and it really had a big effect on the acceleration of my truck.

40" load-range C with beadlocks on 8 lbs will take you just about anywhere you should be going.

 

I drive down roads go from "pop your tire" to paved and am not going to stop and air up and down every 10 minutes. I get what your saying, but not practical for me everytime I go to the grocery store.

 

What size are yours? Are those 285’s or 265’s?

I want to get the KM3’s with my factory rims but at the same time I think I should change my rims. What do y’all think? Also what’s the size difference on the factory rims vs a after market rim?

 

Well depends on your needs. I believe the stock OR wheel is 16x7 so you’ll be limiting the width of your wheel. Aftermarket wheels vary but your width can be anywhere from 8-9” on average.

 

Makes sense, only thing I’m worried about is the tires rubbing against the truck. However I may just lift it 2 inches first then get the new wheels.

 

I hated my Nitto Ridge Grapplers after 25k miles, so I upgraded. 315/75/16

What happened to the Nittos? Tread go slick or something else?

 

The NRG’s were very good up until the point where myself and another buddy were sliding down some icy hills. There’s just zero traction on ice. In comparison, other rigs on MT’s and KO2’s did fine.

 

Really? I love my Ridge Grapplers, esp in the NW. Did great in the dirt, rocks and snow. Loved how quiet they are. Looking at my next options for 35s though. How do the km3s ride on the street compared to the ridge graps? I'm like 90% street and do a few multi-day wheeling trips throughout the year, but when I do go, it's pretty gnarly stuff.

I hated mine as well. Never ever run another Nitto tire. The Trail Grapplers are even worse. Cooper and BFG are way better tires in my opinion.

 

Why did you hate yours?

I went from KM2s to the Nittos, and it was a night and day difference for me, which is why I'm hesistant to go back to the KM series. I won't be getting the nittos in 35s though because they weigh like 10 pounds more...its either the KM3s or the Wrangler MT/Rs.

 

The Trail Grapplers just wear out super fast and the Ridge Grapplers chunked on me. They were warranty’d and that set did the same thing. I replaced that set with some Cooper STT Pro’s. They are probably the best MT tire I’ve ever had. They are loud at 50-55mph, but that’s the only negative thing I can say about them.

 

The NRG did well on everything during my first 20k I put on. Then the treads became slick during the following year snow runs. So far I'm loving the KM3's. Almost went STT Pros, but heard they get loud after a while. So far these KM3's are very quiet; not much noisier than the NRG. With the bigger lugs, you feel slightly more vibrations in the steering wheel, but very negligible. I say go KM3's in 35s!
