Dang Amy's parents got me accessories galore to go with my GoPro! I'm stoked to use this thing. In the truck, mountain biking, hiking, just in general for photos, and more! I'm stoked.

 

I went with my Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized due to the heavy duty canvas (360g Dual Stitched Fabric (40% heavier than standard models). All the other RTT brands to include Tepui are 260g and only Tepui had when I bought. Better for snow, wet weather, staying warmer and long term durability). Note that they state this tent is 4-seasons which is what you should be looking for in a heavy duty ground tent. If they don't say 4 season it ain't. I am a bit unhappy now as the annex on my Tepui is not like the latest RTTs and doesn't enclose the stairs and cover you as you exit the tent. They also usually have a floor which mine doesn't. One day I may upgrade to the Ruggedized Autana 4 which is also quite a bit larger and has the annex enclosing the stairs.

After looking over the CVTs' they actually have 380g canvas. About the same prices as the Tepui though. If available in Chattanooga shipping savings would help alleviate a bit of the pain. Need to ask about military/Tacoma discount.

 

From what I read, ARB is on par with some of the the CVT and Tepui models

Yeah but as I said earlier....my truck better not be needing to be up at the 4ft on the sliders. If you're getting higher than that...the hi lift stability is less of a worry than much of anything else lol.

 

You speak the truth. At that height you’d need an equivalent sized base to keep the thing upright.

 

Exactly. They are identical material and structure aside from an extra foot on top. That foot does not add much additional stability, if any, because once over 4 feet of lifting you are going to be majorly in the danger zone of toppling and even more weight on the same material as the shorter one. The 60inch is weaker in theory. Like trying to break a really short stick vs a really long stick.

 

60 inch would be more helpful with a winching operation, clamping, or spreading where both ends are under the same type of tension or compression. Offroaders really don’t use these things for their original purpose to be honest.

 

Very true. They have many many capabilities.

 

Hence the reason I got a winch kit for mine. Just purchased the 20 foot of chain so now I can actually use it. The chain alone was almost 85 bucks. 3/8 chain is expensive.

What Wes said. When lifting my truck from the rear bumper, it uses over half of the length of the jack. The front bumper would be the same.

Also, the longer jack gives you more to hold on to when you are raising/lowering the truck.

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

if 12" on my hi-lift is the end all, then I'll quit off-roading lol

 

Just don’t put a hi lift on your truck before you have a jack point for them lol
