    1. What are the typical mileages for changing these?

    2. Is there a certain fluid that is preferred for replacing the installed factory fluids? If so, what weights are recommended?

My 3G is about to hit 25K miles, I have never done this before but really would like to do it instead of paying the dealer for this if I can.

Merry Christmas and many thanks for the advice in advance.

Have you looked through the owners manual? It can be a good starting place as to when and what to use (certain specs)

Hey man. My response mirrors what’s already been posted but I was in your boat last month. Wanted to do the maintenance myself and keep the dealer out of the loop. The sticky at the top for DIY is legit and whoever took the time to research and post all that should be payed based off how much time they put into it. I ended up using redline for all my fluids except transfer case. Still waiting on someone other than toyo to make a decent fluid for our transfer case

Just finished mine for the 60k service. Went for:
    Diffs: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/VAR820#
    Transfer Case: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/RPR01512
    Manual Transmission: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/LUR10043

I feel good about my oil choices for the diffs and transfer case, but not so much about the mt, just ran out of time and had to pick something. None of my local stores had something that was specifically GL-3, annoyingly enough.

    Another good resource:

Diffs 75W90 and straight 75W in the Tcase like Toyota genuine (expensive) or Ravenol Synth (relatively cheap).

Of course use the specific AT or MT fluid if changing the trans fluid
